one of my pet peeves is stupid words that don't really fit and are gramatically incorrect, but people are using them because other people are using them, in programming, that should be a red flag for someone who has some problems with architecture because otherwise they would have the accurate words that people use who actually understand the bigger picture

the word is "errored"

error is a noun

you can't past tense a noun, it becomes something else, like "body" or "man" becomes "corpse" when it is past tense

you don't say "erred" either because to err is human

yes, an error in a program is supposed to mean a human made a mistake, but never mind that

it didn't "errored" it FUCKING FAILED and anyone who uses "errored" has FUCKING FAILED at impressing me with their ability to use language, and if they are programmers, then idk what to say, what's that stuff you guys write?

oh yeah, FUCKING LANGUAGE

you can't magically turn nouns into verbs, there is no such thing as past tense of a noun

🤬

and yet you know what they mean.

bodied is also a word.

maybe better to plug your ears.

in computer languages, a type is a noun, a variable is a thing (including a physical person) and a function is a verb, it causes things to change

anyone who pretends to be an advanced level computer programmer who doesn't have an understanding of linguistics deserves to be ridiculed

our whole job is writing semantically and gramattically correct language that describes processes that will be executed by a machine that is dumb and thus cannot make an error

when a machine fails, it is because a human has made an error in writing the code

which is probably because they have weak understanding of semantics, grammar and syntax in general, firstly, and secondly, as it applies to the particular language and tooling they are using

yes i know what a thing is also... can be divided up into two subcategories, object and subject, the former is the actor, the latter is the material being acted upon

things are not language, or at least, language as a noun is not a thing, it is a word, maybe, but a word is a reference to a meaning, and meaning is intangible, so it's not a thing like a brick or a stupid grinning computer programmer whose code "errored"

The maps of meaning are discarding their fiat shackles with every pedant willing to make a stand.

quietly striking "errored out" from vocab. as in "darn, i don't know what went wrong! it just errored out!"

revising some opinions on h1b visa thing too perhaps...

lol... i probably could get sponsored for one of those if i had enough stacked to set up somewhere over there, my employer is a delaware registered corp

you should go for it. they may want to pay you less apparently if I understand the situation correctly, since you would basically have to stick with the company that sponsors the visa.

so i assume this means that if the company looks like a long term fit, then it would be a good thing to do... idk.

i've always wanted to migrate somewhere too. the birds and the butterflies do it.

Irregardless, it makes no sense. Anytime someone uses that word I stop them and ask to give the definition of regardless. Then I'll ask ok so what does irregardless mean. I have no idea how irregardless made it's way into peoples vocabulary.

Yes, finally someone appreciating grammar 😍
