Digging the idea of nostr os more and more.
I envision a well designed desktop client with ability to launch any web or desktop based app. Built in key management so you only have to authenticate once. Built in wallet open with NWC and ability to add any new app in a simple manner via “install”
Maybe tabbed view and ability to set the same relays across apps unless app makes use of dynamic relay switching.
Built in news discovery, rss reader, and perhaps ability to create your own long form content right from UI and voice notes for a future voice based client of some sort.

Turn it into a PWA, all the webapps will show as PWA after that.
Where can I get info on turning an app into a PWA?
To get started, simply ask ChatGPT to create a manifest file and an Sw.js file for your PWA. Add both of these files to your website project folder, and it will also provide you with instructions on how to reference those files in your HTML.
Once you've completed these steps, your app will be a PWA.
Of course, you can go even further and add advanced features, which are also relatively easy to implement.
I would like to combine your PWA with nostrfreaks! Maybe once you launch we can make some kind of hybrid app afterwards! I want users to be able to save custom layouts made with nostrfreaks.com/add and then have them listed in some sort of nostr marketplace.

By stacking web apps users can build their own unique web / nostr surfing experiences and share with their frens

So what is the upside to a nostr OS? Is it just a massaged Linux distro? I've done Linux distro projects in the past so curious.
This actually makes more sense than 90% of the Linux distros.

Famous last words. I’ve heard browsers are some of the most complicated and difficult tech to build.
I guess you could build something just using WebKit or chromium though?
Maybe do it in 3 phases:
Phase 1: desktop app. Doesn’t even need browsing capability. More of a launchpad for all the apps. Easy discovery, key management, wallet. If proves useful and popular move to phase 2.
Phase 2: full browsing experience. Probably chromium? If for some reason this isn’t sufficient or proves very popular, move to phase 3.
Phase 3: full OS. No idea what this would look like or why you’d want that, something to consider 🤔
I think phase 1 actually requires phase 2.

With a the linux distros lying around, it could be redundant having an OS based on nostr (?).
As long as there is an ecosystem of apps (social, marketplace, exchange), the stuff you need to run a pc has nothing to do with decentralization.
Kernel, bootloader, windows manager, file manager and all those stuff don't need nostr imho.
