Hypothesis: People who were world famous a generation ago are no longer famous.
Experiment: The Marlon Brando game.
Without googling or looking at replies tell me which one of these men is Marlon Brando.

bottom left... almost 40
Bottom left?
bottom left I believe
Easy, bottom left. Colonel Kurtz
bottom left
BOTTOM LEFT. I'M HAPPY TO NOT KNOW CURRENT CELEBRITIES. HOLLYWOOD IS A CESSPOOL THAT SHOULD BE BLOWN UP, THAT INCLUDES THE NON-CELEBS THERE
1 Jimmy Stewart 2. Carry Grant 3. Marlon Brando 4. Clark Gable
If anyone here doesn't recognize Vito Corleone then have I got a great movie recommendation for you.
It’s sad new generations have mostly not seen any of great performances of these men.
Bottom Left. If you can not name any famous people from the 50s your money is not more than a generation old.
None?
ok boomer
Top left is James Stewart and top right is Cary Grant.
I'm in my late 30's, and I knew immediately that Marlon Brando is on the lower left.
But then, my wife and I (and our kids) love the classics. 😁
is this even a question.
i will unfollow anyone that gets this wrong.
…..the horror.

That is the whole thing about fame, You are famous forever. Do you know who Jesus is?
For real tho.
i have this same theory for people that got mid-rich in the 90’s.
they wouldn’t survive now.
they did it on info asymmetry that doesn’t exist anymore.
(think fast food people.)
Bottom left
Jimmy Stewart Cary Grant
Brando Clark Gable
IM OLD
Bottom left, I'm a millennial
I wouldnt know. Only heard of these names
I know!
Bottom left. How could someone not recognize him?
Bottom left. I’m old school. 😀✌🏻
I feel old, now. Thanks.
It's the same with music. My kids don't know Tina Turner or Whitney Houston.
Bottom left
I'm not sure this theory holds all that well for cinema stars, maybe? 🤔
Fans of film will watch the classics of any age. Perhaps moreso now that new releases aren't all that.
I thought that, too, but "classics" are younger, now, and in color.
Hmm I think that's just an expansion of the classics canon no?
People still go back to Metropolis. It's p standard to go back even pre-talkies
Yes, but that's a niche thing.
Classic for Gen Z is more like "Apocalypse Now", "A Time to Kill", "Clueless", "Silence of the Lambs", or the first "Top Gun".
I think a lot of Gen Z are quite into niche interests, and diligent with nerding up lol:)
There's always been boring people in every generation. I think there's too much focus on the most boring gen Z, maybe cos theyre more vocal and there's whole platforms for them. I suspect Gen Z are fairly similar to most generations within the sort of scope of cultural awareness of this thread, at least
Haven't they been famous at least two generations ago? Bottom left.
Bottom left, 1980s. My wife would have no idea on any of these though. Is bottom right Clark Gable?
Yep
Do you mean Vito Corleone?
not from my generation but i can spot young Don Corleone 😁
Damn James Stewart (top left). Legend.
Lower left.
Bottom Left
Top left is James Stewart, top right is Cary Grant, not 100% sure which on the bottom row, but if memory serves, Marlon Brando on bottom right? From The Leopard?
lol I was wrong
bottom left
Easy.. bottom left..
Left to right, top to bottom.
James Stewart
Cary Grant
Brando
Clark Gable
bottom left, but i think most people who were born 70s - 00s, remember what marlon brando look like from godfather movies (no longer look like in that pic)
Lower left
Rewatching the best of the old western and mountain man movies is highly recommended
