If a street performer/artist is out busking and every person who stops to give them a tip gave them only a penny, how long do you think they would stay on that street corner? #Nostr is the street corner.

Do they “need” to be on the corner or do they enjoy playing for people? How big is the city? Is it 30 million people all dropping a penny, or 5000? 😁
Think realistically in terms of # of tips. And if they’re busking they probably need the money. I think the more important question is do you want them to be on your street corner and return to it the next day?
The street performer needs to also take into account that it’s a new city and there’s value in picking the best corner. But, how long will they wait? I guess that really depends on the performers circumstances.
I agree those are important things for the artist to consider. It is also important for his regular passersby to consider the real value of the tip they’re giving. New city or not, most people would tip anyway can afford more than a penny at a time. Just a thought exercise I’ve been tossing around with myself. Each will do what they want, but I’m increasingly less in favor of sending out small zaps to a lot of people to spread the love, and more in favor of sending larger zaps to people and content that I truly feel have given me value. 21 sats is a cute number for zapathon zaps, but I’m not really giving you much if I zap you that for something you clearly put time into and I enjoyed. My resources are scarce, and so are everyone else’s, so maybe it’s better to reward the content I enjoy with a zap that will make a person stop to say thanks and want to keep posting more.

I agree with everything you said here. It’s interesting to reflect on how our perceptions change and how this is so new. I’ve always appreciated the sentiment behind a small zap, as it shows me that some one cares enough to react to my content in some way. I’m also not an artist or journalist, and I am sure they would respond much differently than me, as my livelihood is not dependent on the zaps I receive. What I enjoy even more than a zap is connecting with people and having conversations, or having someone respond with a question about something I have posted. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out and I feel lucky to be early here and be able to contribute in some way to its development.
Smol zaps are nice, please don't kill them off.. they help grow the network and provide signal that it's not a bot just liking a post. Feel free to large zap, but I don't think we should discourage smol zaps.

Yes I do but most of them don’t allow below 1000 zaps that’s why can’t send sometimes

From the Home tab click your profile pic in the top left corner. Then Settings > Zaps and there you can change the default

Don’t you think #nostr need to update this things , before every #zap we have to change the amount from #nostr client
That is your default. If you want to change the amount on an individual note, long press on the ⚡️ zap symbol on that post. It will bring up a customization screen where you can change the amount and add a message, set it to private, etc.
But I’m asking if every sat matters then why don’t you keep them all? Why zap any of them away? I don’t understand the reasoning there.
The good news is my opinion doesn’t determine what anyone else does. But I absolutely am of the opinion that very small zaps aren’t meaningful from a V4V standpoint. Fine for demonstration purposes, zapathons, etc.
Your opinion does matter cause we all look up to the corndalorian. I'd even go as far as to say you're the #1 influencer on #nostr. Everybody knows corndalorian. So if you think we should zap different, then we gonna 🤔 and 🫡

I get what you’re saying but I feel like you’re missing or ignoring what I’m saying. Are zaps just a fun toy? Doesn’t everyone on here applaud that Nostr and zaps are going to create a digital circular Bitcoin economy? There are people who write and create art, videos, etc, who absolutely depend on the ability to monetize their work. Doesn’t mean everyone has to support everything. But when something is of value to you, sending that person half a cent worth of sats is pointless and they won’t stay. They’ll go to other platforms where they can monetize their content, even if through ads and sponsorships.
I think we’re still early days and people will be able to monetize better when there’s more users if you’re getting 10 people sending you a few sides it’s not much but if you have 100,000 followers or 1 million those micro transactions add up also there’s nothing stopping you from using other platforms at the same time you could post it here and elsewhere and if you think your product is worth a certain amount then you don’t do it for tips you do it for a set price offer website or whatever or set your own pricing
Yea I agree we’re early and no real argument about the rest of your points. Growth will come, tools and apps will be built, and it will take time. But there are people here now creating real value for other users. We’re privileged to be the first users on the best social network ever. Why not zap a little more when we like something and give people that much more reason to be here?
