It's been a few years since I've read any fiction, but do I really need to read The Mandibles? Other than disaster porn for bitcoiners is there anything in Ms. Shriver's writing that will make the masochistic excercise worth it? #asknostr #mandibles

I think the way it portrays different character behavior is worth a look, in particular how people plan and overcome while some plan ahead and fail.

Maybe give this interview of nostr:npub1qny3tkh0acurzla8x3zy4nhrjz5zd8l9sy9jys09umwng00manysew95gx with Shriver a listen:

Even if you decide you don’t wanna read the book, the conversation is insightful.

Great idea, thanks.

I've read it and don't rate it particularly highly, I, like you, rarely read fiction. The subject matter was average, as was the writing style. 6/10, tops🤷🏻‍♂️.

I personally found it a dull read considering how important the topic is. Hyperinflation wrecks an upper middle class urban family, society descends into chaos, government responds by forcing everyone to get an implant. You don’t need the book to know where things are headed.

That was my guess.

I agree with this. I read it but it is not on my list of recommendations.
