i shilled a bunch of nostr clients that im excited about earlier today. however, client devs aren't the only ones that need our love and support.

media hosts and relay operators are some of the unsung hereos around these decentralized parts.

shout out to nostr.build, nostrcheck.me, nostr.download, primal, and all of media hosts out there that are hosting most of nostr's visual data. without you, we'd all be looking at text.

and a special thanks to relay.damus.io, relay.nostr.band, nos.lol, and all of the public relay operators out there. without you, many nostr users would not be able to communicate. thanks to all of the paid and WoT relay operators out there. without you, spam would be a major issue.

thanks to the relay developers <3 without you, none of this would be possible. keep building. algo relays. community relays. smart relays are new and exciting. all of it.

Can you point me in the direction of information about relays. I am subscribed to about 13 on primal and I don't know if that is even necessary. I tried some of the clients you mentioned today and one talked about needing to add a write relay. How would someone new even know what that is or how to find one to connect to? Maybe I am over complicating this?

Ultimately, you shouldn't need to worry to much about relays unless you want to join a specific one such as a community or you want to run your own.

13 is a good number. You can explore more relays by visiting https://nostr.watch

Was the client that asked about relays Amethyst or Jumble.social ? I mentioned both today.

Amethyst supports a method called Outbox and Inbox. This is the future and makes Nostr more robust and decentralized.

Jumble allows you to browse relay feeds. It's pretty cool.

I believe the one that mentioned write relays was nostrudel. Also, I would like to learn about running a relay if you can point me in that direction. I guess in general is there a place to learn about all of these different concepts that is easyish to digest?

Oh! Yes, Nostrudel supports this newer concept too and has a lot of options. I believe you can choose defaults or popular relays. nostr:nprofile1qqszv6q4uryjzr06xfxxew34wwc5hmjfmfpqn229d72gfegsdn2q3fgpr3mhxue69uhhxct5v4kxc6t5v5hxs7njvscngwfwvdhk6tcpzfmhxue69uhkummnw3e82efwvdhk6tcpz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduhsk7wj75

As for running a relay, you'll need to ask yourself what kind run. Will it be a private relay or a public relay? Let me see if I can find some guides.

Probably just a private relay for now so that I could learn the ropes.

For a private relay, I use #haven

Thanks! I'll check it out.

We do what we can.

many strong relays or bust!
