Do you mean the nostr or monero network?
The nostr protocol is agnostic. So any Monero user can build a nostr app that accepts Monero "zaps".
It's probably not a good bet to expect and wait on bitcoin maxis to implement it.

I was thinking the same exact thing. If some #Monero coders would like to build a client that would allow #xmr zapping, we'd be well on our way to integrating better #privacy into the #nost r universe.
Alas, I am not that good of a coder yet to do so, but hopefully some others will take up the challenge soon!
Nostr still has a lot to work on like metadata leak. For example DMs are private but anyone can still see who you are talking to and when. Also your IP is broadcasted to relays.
Would be cool if Monero community forked nostr and fixed both those things (Maybe thru CCS?). Probably a big task. I'm not a coder either.
I think Nostr already has a NIP or two to potentially address the DM metadata thing.
In that case, #session or #simplex could be good alternatives to #nostr DMs
Yes, very good alternatives, but it would be nice to use DMs on here directly instead of needing an additional app. Maybe they could be plugged into nostr thru a NIP or the app layer? I'm not sure
