I have been hardcore audited by the IRS. It was a hard and expensive lesson, but in hindsight, a good one.

It taught me how to legally avoid as many taxes as possible - and has paid for itself 100x. Tho it takes resources to do so.

It also taught me to hate the IRS with a fervor. The process and the people are a joke. It was a full on witch hunt.

I know a billionaire with a stimmy check framed in his office. Not because it was a mistake - but because he pays so little in taxes that the govt thinks he needs aid.

A tax leak reveled that Jeff Bezos receives tax credits for his kids.

and actually - good for them.

The IRS and its agents are a joke.

The IRS will not even answer tax questions if you call them.

It’s unfixable.

Burn it down.

just tell them you lost your assets in a boating accident.

simple.

Hating the IRS seems a reasonable approach for decent people.

All that is needed is for enough people to stop thinking taxes are good or a necessary evil.

Forced taxes in particular. It's OK to have taxes on optional bullshit, for example forcing people to pay to register brand names, which is a corporate tax you can avoid by doing your own business without hiding behind a corporation.

Nothing like a tax shakedown to make you a legal ninja. I’m dying to know did you get a grudging well played from the auditor, or were they too busy seething?

i didn’t know shit when i got audited.

they raped me.

My old employer once accidentally filed an incorrect W-2 form and sent me the corrected one after I had already filed. So, I mailed an amended return and got a notice that it was wrong a month or so after. Upon calling the IRS for clarification (which they first left me on-hold for 2 hours ), they told me my amended return and all the documents used for support were invalid because they received the corrected W-2 a couple days after I filed the amended return, so they had to throw away my amendment and required me to file another. Thing is, you can't file amendments digitally and must physically mail them, including supporting documents and the like. So now I have to go and print another fat stack of papers and mail it just to wait again and hope it's accepted, all so I can prove to them that I owe $7... 😑

Such bullshit.

Fr. I'd rather just overpay than have to deal with this.

They waste your time, which is much more valuable than money. That's what I can't stand.

I started my career as a lawyer helping people (mostly small businesses) getting probed by the IRS get out of their crosshairs. I was paid very little but man did it feel good to advocate on behalf of those folk with the dolts at that organization.

you know why you were flagged? getting paid in btc?

Burn it the F down.

Can you elaborate on the taught you to legally avoid as many taxes as possible part?

Have you considered giving up citizenship?

i’ve considered it. but want to keep us national status. have any resources?

Unfortunately I don't. Its something I've considered in passing but not deeply researched

Be careful of the exit tax.

What are your top tips for Bitcoin users?

Use Monero.

NOTE: some DNS providers may be blocking the freedomlawschool.org domain. I have already contacted ControlD support but there may be others. Best guess is it somehow got included in one of the automated block lists that is used by PiHole, etc.

ControlD just responded and removed the block. They say it should be eliminated within 30 minutes.

Interested to know what the lessons are that you learned

Agentic AI for taxes please. I don’t want to deal with them. Extra sats if the AI is mean and ruthless. Guard my money and make the government cry.
