Mushroom peeps out there, how do you guys use or preserve Lions Mane?

I generally just pull them apart, dehydrate and make into a powder.

Open to new ideas though..

I really need to get growing lions mane. How hard is it to get into?

Not sure, we barter our eggs for them from a friend.

They mostly use sawdust compressed in bags as the substrate. Doesn’t seem too complex

Its not too hard, you just need to find a place to get uncontaminated mycelium, most countries will have online mushroom supplys for sale, lions main can be a bit more tricky, something like oyster mushrooms are really easy for beginners.

I do the same with dehydrating. We eat it in pasta all the time

I would bread and fry em 👀

This might give you some Ideas......https://honest-food.net/mushroom-preservation-podcast/

I asked my mom. she said "oh that's 猴頭菇" which translates to monkey head mushroom.

I asked how she prepares it and she said "those are kind of a pain in the ass"

here's her recommendation...

shred them by hand only. do not cut with knife.

use it to make a light brothy soup. can have it by itself or use it in other dishes.

After shredding, can be stir fried like any shredded chicken dish.

We usually just fry them in a cast iron pan, I believe that if you are trying to use them for medicinal properties you are best to use a water and or alcohol extraction.

You know that's good for ypur brain since it looks just like one!

Are you selling it?

No we barter for it at the farmers market. Great for the brain.

They do full intact blocks that you can cut and get a 2nd growth.

Then we throw the spent blocks in wood chip piles

Haha thats stacking functions ;)
