How are people selling $3000 worth of Lightning #bitcoin via Robosats P2P in one go? From my experience, any Lightning payment above 150K sats always fails. #askNostr

Iβm still curious how Donald Trump managed to pay for $1,000 worth of burgers and cokes at nostr:npub1key55ax33gkl50uqemvl4khrtqrhzm7wzpc7fhseutt5ddkcwcrqgxlt3h with Lightning π
I sent over a million sats over lightning without issue
Custodial wallet?
Yes I stopped using Phoenix when they force closed my channels.
You can also do on chain with robosats fyi
Are you sure the Seller can do on-chain?
Yea itβs part of the options when you do a trade you can select on chain or lightning. Itβs been a minute but thatβs how I remember it.
wait what?
Phoenix closed your channels?
with Phoenix dont you just have a channel with them and they handle everything?
or am I misunderstanding?
I was able to recover on chain it was just annoying. So I didnβt lose any sats. Just had to pay on chain fees to move them to a new address.
You are correct but for some reason my channels closed and I have to recover on chain.
weird. good to know, i still use them for most LN stuff.
Yea I donβt want to paint them as bad it worked good until then I just stopped using it after that.
what do you use now?
I'm sure ive seen it somewhere but I forget.
Iβm just using WoS out of pure laziness and convenience. I know I know itβs custodial I am a bad boy.
lol
arent you US based π²
im us based and i use wos WITHOUT a vpn, watch:
well I hope you can shake off losing whatever sats theyre holding for you
< 5k. ill survive
hell I have more than that in minibits
Yea itβs nothing significant but Iβve also used it for almost 4 years unrugged so seems unlikely but if it did I am would pissed for about 69 minutes. Then move on with my life.
I thought you could do on-chain with robosats.
From my understanding, Robosats is Lightning-only, but some coordinators allow the recipient to instantly swap the sats to on-chain (with an extra fee). Can anyone confirm?
I just saw an on-chain Robosats on-chain for a fee that worked out to be about 15% (for mining fees), so I switched to lightning. Not sure how on-chain plays out during the actual transaction.
I don't see any option for on-chain as a Seller. There's a SWAP IN/OUT (Lightning <> On-chain) but that's not the same thing.
i thought you could beat that limit when using non-custodial lightning wallets
Fat channels β‘
My channels are thiccc and i have different peers. Anything above 100K sats has a near 100% chance of not going through.
Same I'd be willing to test with you
Never had this issue personally
You own your channels and have enough liquidity to send and accept that amount.
Works flawless for large amounts in recent history.
Probably they use a custodian or phoenix etc though.
Isn't Bisq still around for on-chain KYC-free purchases?
Yeah, $3k worth is still a bit high to be trying to clear on Lightning, from my experience. Won't be long and that will seem normal, though. You know, when 150k sats is worth more than $3k. π
What would that be... $2 million/Bitcoin and above?
You can't run Bisq on mobile tho.
because people are using shity LN nodes without proper liquidity.

ive never been siccessful sending anywhere near that many sats. also id be worried about the fiat rail at that amount blocking their transaction
