Argentina is now full of rumors of potential financial collapse. Whoever has money in the bank at this point is likely to suffer the same destiny of those having UST in Luna... we'll see where it lands. I hope for Argentina that we can hold as there will be a lot of people affected if we again go through one of those events...

I consider myself lucky, but I hope for my beautiful country to manage it... the one thing that is good is that most argentineans are so used to it that we know how to handle... or at least most of us know it

omg there is hope for those owning btc

I wish you and your countrymen and women the best of luck ๐Ÿซ‚

Are you on the ground in Argentina now? Would love to hear how this develops from locals.

I fear something similar is coming to the U.S.. What would you say are a couple things people should do to prepare for such an event?

Just assume you wonโ€™t be able to withdraw money from the banks. Assume the government may want to take some of your moneyโ€ฆ donโ€™t be naive talking about second amendments and things like that. When there is a crisis, is like war time and nobody cares about your rights

So have some bitcoins.. have some money outside government control and eventually outside governments awareness.. donโ€™t trust banks

Sounds like good advice for Americans too

In some ways the people in countries like yours are advantaged over populations who think they're immune from such events. I'm not downplaying the pain & suffering that it causes but this is where I see all fiat currencies headed.

Understanding why Bitcoin is needed is the first step.

Those that adopt bitcoin early are at an advantage & I'm somewhat glad that the victims of the global fiat hegemony scam are going to see it first.

Good luck to you & your family ser.

Clearly we are much better prepared :).. unfortunately

How many times has this situation occurred in Argentina since 2000?

Just enough to get used to it

I would have thought after the first time, the โ€˜peopleโ€™ would use a better money, but given my experience with the COVID experiment, the โ€˜peopleโ€™ keep coming back for more for some reason.

Several times, like big spikes in the ARS/USD exchange rate, but real crisis, like hyperinflations happened before, like the 70' os so

best of luck

Crisis is opportunity

Not really. Sometimes crisis is crisis, loss and chaos.

Never have your eggs in the same basket. Never have all your money in banks or in your home. Have hard assets, if you own a car and have a place for a bike in your garage, buy a bike even if you don't use it. Best medium or small hard assets are assets that are useful for doing some kind of work. Computers loose value fast, they are the exception. Any kind of working tools are good and can be resold. Cars that consume little fuel, are easy to repair and pay little taxes have high value.

Land is not a good hard asset unless you live nearby, and you can protect it and prevent someone else to start living on it by force. The state does not protect you against illegal occupation of land, you and your neighbors have to do it by yourselves. Moving to places where there is a feeling of community and people have similar values, urban is good as long as it is far away from the trains (that can bring the masses under state sponsorship to your neighbor, so cars are a must).

Ideally you'll have 2 - 3 bank accounts very cheap or free (one is probably your main one where you get your salary), 3 to 7 fintech bank on mobiles, and have 3 - 5 centralized crypto accounts. Store only pesos in the banks, store a mix of pesos and stablecoins on fintechs, store only some stablecoins on the centralized exchanges. That is what my friends do. I don't have anything, I am just almost poor living on my last resources and unemployed.

And have some physical amount of pesos and physical paper dollars hidden somewhere. I would not advise the house for many people since they can be stolen, and it's a red flag for violence (I don't have anything where I live). But if you live in an apartment building with lots of security, you may consider to have some fiat usd at your place.

Having your eggs dispersed on different baskets will not prevent you from loosing some, but will prevent you from loosing everything. In the worst cases, you can lose more than half your eggs. But not all of them, so you can rebuild. Friendships and community can't be stolen. Your friends will help you rebuild faster if you were the one that lost more than the others.

I really can't highlight enough how important it is to have a healthy social life with people that are close and old friends, new friends and good ones too, people that can become your friends, and people you know you can't be friends because of the nature of the relation, but you can trust on them anyway for other matters in life. Your Intelligence, robust social circle, and how good person you are will matter a lot. People trust good people. Being a good person is transforming your self into a hard asset for the smart people around you.

Having guns will not save your assets, since the justice system in times of crisis will go full communist. If you shoot thieves in your property, the state will push and force the judges to say you are the rich bad man (does not matter if you are actually unemployed and own almost no assets, you'll be considered the rich bad person). The state needs the thieves in their side in times of crisis and will protect them and not you, that is because they have a common objective: they both want to steal value from you.

However, having guns may save your life. But they are risky because if you have guns, you are on a list of the state (by law) and the state now have an excuse to go to your door and ask questions. The best thing in all cases is being just a normal pleb in the eyes of the mafia parasite criminal state. You have to be really uninteresting for the state if you want to avoid them coming to your door or sending their goons to you.

Also, it is good to help others, but never reveal your complete strategy to survive the crisis. Ever.

At some point, criminals will start attacking one another, and that is when the state force will diminish as it starts engulfing itself. That is when the justice system and other state goons realize the balance of power is now on the hands of the silent majority and will start slowly taking actions in favor of the normal citizen to avoid being vaporized by the citizens in revenge. There you can start building again your life....until the next crisis.

Hard times are not coming, they are already here in Argie's land. I don't need your zaps to survive, we'll be fine. Only send them you found value in this post. Thank you and love to you all.

As Iโ€™m a huge Argentina lover(because of my gf), Iโ€™m having question about Mileiโ€™s dollarization.

Is there any movement for bitcoinazation?

Like El salvador did?

Seriously, dollar is not the answer. We all know that.

For most people that live by the day and that have limited savings, dollar gives enough stability. Bitcoin would not be easy as the only option because is hard to put prices in the economy

The only thing that does not work for sure is our currency

Milei is not actually proposing a dollarization but a "free currency system", this will evolve into a defacto dollarization, but allowing people to use other currencies as well.

Best wishes. Had a blast month in Argentina last year march. Blue dollar was 200 then. I loved your country and people and I love to drink mate. I hope you will recover from this disease

Thatโ€™s very unsettling. Your positivity is really refreshing. Iโ€™ll be sure to keep Argentina and itโ€™s people uplifted in prayer ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ
