What if Apps added a field to let users declare their "living wage" (the minimum amount they need per day to survive from zaps). Then apps could present posts with a highlight if the author has not met his/her living wage yet.

The idea is to add a notion of cost of content. And with cost in mind, fans of the account can take action.

No Vitor.... We like the zaps but it's too early to be a pro Nostr poster 😂

It's never too early for anything. :)

I know, i just wanted to enjoy the pure hearts of people before we have things like "crypto scammers influencers" here.

But developing an idea is good

Ok ok guys!!! I need:

70k SATs a day (not on Sundays) to have an average argentinian wage.

40k to survive without having anything or saving for clothes.

Tell me your numbers with a BTC at 26,5k

Ya fax let the Creators put out something worth the zaps...the creators living wage is a entirely separate idea.

nostr:npub108pv4cg5ag52nq082kd5leu9ffrn2gdg6g4xdwatn73y36uzplmq9uyev6 has something like this for upkeep/ expenses on soapbox or something.

Why not a field for the content itself rather than for a profile?

While it happens everyday for many things, it somehow feels icky to assign a number to a person, especially if it's monetary. (Though what I think about how zaps are used, should matter zilch)

for just 5 zaps a day i can eat a bowl of rice , sorry but what

Value is subjective. Not all work deserves to be paid.

That's why the proposal is there. If you like the content you get from an account, you better put up or the account won't be there for much longer. If you don't like, or don't think it is worth, you can let the account die.

A subscription system would probably work better. Free, but limited content. To get an idea of the quality, and the good stuff behind a zap wall 😁

The network is still relatively small and distributions of zaps are much more evenly spread than monetisation on legacy media.

I don’t think there’s a problem, things will happen organically.

nostr:npub1gcxzte5zlkncx26j68ez60fzkvtkm9e0vrwdcvsjakxf9mu9qewqlfnj5z, I'm happy to pay for content that makes a positive difference to my life. Ideas, have changed my life. The yt => mailing list => paid private content can just be mirrored in #nostr, paying monthly subscriptions for access to content can be automated and remove any friction of multiple steps and forms and logins to sign up. But, I haven't seen *any* content creators on #nostr and to be honest I'm getting really bored.

70k a day with free Sundays for an average argentinian wage

40k only to live without saving

(BTC at 26,5k)

Yeah I know, argentinian numbers are special

Honestly very few people provide enough value posting on a social network to earn a living wage doing it. This concept is kind of beyond silly

My channel is still small. I want so provide something valuable to the community. I don't want to be a beggar.

Lots of people told me this. However, if you don't ask, you won't get it. And apps can help you ask without feeling bad about it.

I appreciate the idea.

This looks cool but i think we could use a better naming convention than "living wage". Sounds beggarly. 🤔

Daily target?

Yeah. Sounds better🫡

Buy me a coffee ☕ scale 🤣🤣🤣 just saying

Purchasing Power Parity.

This is better name for sure. Or something like creator zap target... I had a small acct in IG about 10 K followers...but I sold digital and hamfmade goods. Never a huge fan of "influencers" i think personally that has not been great for social media. But if you find a way to share quality content and offer digital good +zapvertaisment for your services that would be very attractive combination.

The "Daily target" would just be meet if content is of quality and valuable, there is the free exchange of value. As you mentioned people do not value content as much. But the ones like myself like want to delve into content creation need to create a good value proposition not just the content. The daily target I think is worth considering, not super sure how it would "feel".

Your app is awesome BTW.

The subway gate is daily, but groceries are weekly and slip fees are monthly. Lando gets a new cape every 6 months. As a developer I'd hate to have to submit random features on the daily just to match some arbitrary periodicity. Maybe a configurable multi-line item "bills" section of the profile would work.

To all the creators who want to make a living on nostr. Just keep putting out fire content. Most ppl on here just have a couple sats. Just keep working your craft build your reputation like that literally what we are all fighting to do

I am really looking at using $0.5 - $0.1 as the minimum zap. This could really be helpful. Not too much but there's strength in accumulation especially for upcoming content creators. Also this number reduces as your account grows... This helps to control revenue and to encourage creativity.

Another viewpoint. Hide total amount of zaps received for the post. Here's why:

People will zap based upon the value received versus trying to determine if the poster has received "enough" based upon the zaps that are displayed.

Would be nice for the protocol to give a person the option of turning off the public display of zaps received

This is a serious issue for those who rely on zaps but want/need financial privacy

Could apps give an option to display zaps as progress bars with a target for that note that could be set by the creator while posting? Default to just a normal count display?

I know nothing & that sounds complicated but feasible in my head 😅

I like this progress bar idea.

I suppose there could be zap goals for notes and/or zap goals for profiles. A progress bar would probably be easier to display on a profile page, but maybe there can be a special fundraiser kind of post that shows a zap progress bar like how the poll posts have their own format.

Or maybe if the user sets up a zap goals on a post the zap counter could show "21k / nk sats"

I was thinking by note because some things are just a lot more work than others & people would be able to express their perceived value for that particular work.

Maybe it could somehow be displayed when a note is opened? If someone is just scrolling by, they probably don't find much value in the content, but if they click it (to reply, watch full size video, etc) they probably do.
