Pope Francis has passed away. We pray for the repose of his soul, as we pray for the repose of all souls. ✝️

His final message, from Easter Sunday, was:

> "All those who put their hope in God place their feeble hands in his strong and mighty hand; they let themselves be raised up and set out on a journey."

the Padre at the sunday mass was talking about this, i was able to understand the part about God's hands... in fact the previous sunday he mentioned him too and i found it odd but i wasn't following what was happening

He's been terribly ill, for weeks. He couldn't manage to speak much, on Easter Sunday, so he had someone else read his message to the public.

Dragging himself to the balcony seems to have used up his last energy, but I'm glad he did it. It meant a lot, and there's honor in simply doing your duty.

R.I.P. Franziskus

idk what it is but there is a feeling of sadness in the air at the moment... so many terrible things happening out there in the world at the moment, i hope we get some good news soon to brighten things up

🫂 I am also sad, but I am always a bit hopeful.

I was not a practicing catholic during his tenure, but I have to say I found him a particularly bad pope and he was high up on my list of reasons not to return to Catholicism.

If a particular pope influences your decision to become Catholic, in either direction, then you are probably missing the larger point that Catholicism is not merely a Christian sect with a pope.

We have had good popes and bad popes, and which ones are which is a matter of each person's personal opinion. We have survived them all because the Catholic Church is guided by the Holy Spirit, with its mysterious ways.

The Holy Spirit has its own reasons for influencing the election of one or the other. We shall see, what it brings us next.

I understand. I grew up catholic, just saying this pope did not make it easy for me to return to Catholicism. Here’s hoping they choose some one better now that Francis is gone.

Perhaps you need to simply zoom out and realize that Christianity is never easy, even if Christ's yoke is light, because we get in the way of ourselves.

Nobody can hope to be anything more than a pilgrim, in this life, for we see through the glass darkly. We are merely choosing which pilgrims' parade to join, and hoping to all join up at the destination.

"We see now through a glass in a dark manner: but then face to face. Now I know in part: but then I shall know even as I am known."

This can be a great W for the Catholic Church if the choose right. The world needs a Pope that strong men gravitate to and want to follow.

Strong men gravitate to Christ.

Indeed, and the church is the body of Christ

It’s like he was holding on just to celebrate Easter, after which his soul could let go.

Yes. 🫂

He left a good impression on me, with that last act. He had one very important job, and he did it. He can rest, now.

May he rest in peace.
