Turns out welding is too hard. I am giving it up and pivoting to art. I call this one, "I wish I could weld"

I really feel the depth of your message with this piece.
It's priceless.
I thought I was pretty clever. I am really having fun learning so I just stuck everything together I could and called it art. Why not?
Sounds like the correct course to me!
I've never welded, and don't know what I would create, but I've been curious about it in the last year or two.
I have a ton of projects out here that could use the skill, fixing an exhaust, building a box for a truck, and framing a mini house with scraps metal I have found. Its going to be huge for me. Super excited. There is a ton of scrap out here and I just need to learn how to glue it together.
I guess I have been thinking about removing my (probably clogged) catayltic converter, and replacing with straight pipe. ๐ค
Get good gloves and a good face shield.
Practice. Welding is only hard because of the gloves
I have the very cheapest gloves and helmet from harbor freight. I guess at least if I learn this way, it will make it super nice once I get to upgrade them.
Welding is something i would love to do, it's just that there's so many other more pressing things that require my attention.
my friend's kid has become a welder. he's gone to welding school which is not trivial. he burned his nut once through his jeans when learning so at least you've stopped before that lesson learned lol. btw, his nuts are okay now
I have tended toward acting quite foolishly my whole life. Always making dangerous mistakes and looking back I feel very lucky to have made it through intact. I honestly think I had to wait until now to pick up this skill because it isn't something you want to mess around with. And it takes a lot of patience. Which I have also always struggled with. I am learning to be patient and take my time. Welding seems to be a good teacher of these skills.
