So I’ve seen people ask for them for Nostr Report for things like “Meme of the Day”. What are the downsides to doing this?

Maybe the focus changing from posting interesting facts/news by users to posting memes, just to for the chance of receiving the badge as an award. Other than that, seems like great memorabilia💜
Yea, I was thinking for people contributing to the report (submitting stories, meme of the day, quote of the day) etc. I just don’t want it to turn into a stupid shitcoin.

If you created one for each category, then I’d be definitely for it. Would be one of the more “valuable” badges for sure 💜
The only downside I can think of, is that lets say you give somebody a badge and they start rocking it on their profile. Then let’s say couple of months later, they end up spewing really extreme “content” which you don’t agree with at all, but your badge may falsely represent that you support it.

😂 badges are more like badges you would get on a forum site. You get badges on StackExchange or bitcointalk.org, and they’re just for fun.
you’re probably not alone but i don’t see how you’re making that leap.
if anything, badges can serve uses that shitcoiners attribute to shitcoins, e.g., displaying membership in a club/community to access gated content.
I’m mostly worried that they will become a vector for scammers.
Don’t know enough about them, and want to try to understand all of the downstream consequences before implementing on #[3]
