š great point. Native cultures had respect for the things they killed that I think stemmed from empathy as well.

šÆhunting gives one a lot of respect for Gods creation and our place in it
To be clear, if I lived in a native culture, I wouldnāt have had to go vegan in the first place. Itās the industrialization, I donāt want any part of. Iāve been living a big city for a while and there werenāt a ton of accessible/humane options.
There is no hunting where I live š just large corporations torturing
I understand that. There would be no issues if we all hunted and prepared our food as most natives did pre agriculture. But it doesnāt change the fact that vegan food today requires mass death to produce. And the lives taken in agriculture arenāt even consumed (more disrespectful) unlike animal slaughter. The vegan ideology is based on lies (no food without death and that it *can* be healthy). Itās a plague.
Thereās levels to that. Huge corporate farms, yes. Your local farmerās market or your own veggie garden, not so much. My avocado tree produces about 6000 avos per year without a single life taken. I understand your point, but not all vegans resort to Soylent and beyond burgers š
No matter which diet someone chooses: carnivore, plant-based, or somewhere in the middle. Thereās a spectrum from most harmful to least as far as sourcing is concerned (in my opinion).
Not many vegans are living off avocado trees in their backyardā¦. Itās pretty extensive to get near nutrient- sufficient on a vegan diet. Many things sourced from many places. Upon closer analysis of everything I think youād be surprised.
Iāve done a lot of food gardening and killing / blocking pests (from voles to slugs to mites) is about 50% of being successful. In commercial ag itās all about killing pests and everything is scaled up. I live in a small rural area and am friends with a small farm owner and he does a lot of killing in a lot of ways, and his main crop is seeds that other farmers and recreational gardeners grow. Pest eradication is extensive. Just sayin.
When I said āleast harmfulā, I did not mean āharmlessā.
Those terrible crops that are causing so much deathā¦are what is feeding the animals that become meat.
Iām not claiming the problem doesnāt exist, I am simply stating that the cause of the problem is not necessarily exclusive to vegans.
And again, this is only coming from the āmoralityā component, I agree with you that plant-based is by no means the āmost nutritiousā lifestyle.
Sure, fair, nuanced qualifiers. The deplorable commercial feed lots do feed their livestock corn and soy and other cheap grain. I personally do not support that shit. I have a lot of distain for it. They exist because of fast food at scale and cheap processed meats, both options I will literally never eat. I pay top dollar for fresh meat that comes from local ranches that raise their livestock ethically.
Iām not sure how much of the mono cropping goes to feed lots for fast food and how much goes to plant based products and corn syrup production etc but I do know all of it is disgusting and horrifying. Not participating.
Thatās the best way to do it both for your health and the animal š«
Also sounds like you do a better job than me. I try really hard not to contribute, but Iām still going through the process of how to best identify small farms near me with good practices. I decided, Iām gonna have to physically go there and see for myself to feel comfortable, but then I had to have surgery so I that got delayed.
Thereās so much false advertisement and misleading labels (e.g., ācage freeā) that itās not the easiest thing to navigate, at least where I live.
I respect that you care.
Most people donāt care at all. When I see people eating fast food I always disparage them for eating ātorture meatā šš© which just sucks thatās a thing. And idk why people are okay with eating itā¦
Likewise! I also respect that you heard me out, a lot of carnivores automatically get triggered by my diet journey, but I think thatās probably because there are a lot of really shitty plant-based maxis out there that make the rest of us look like ignorant, judgmental assholes š
