It's weird to me that we have this common narrative that therapists just encourage people to be "victims" and blame everyone else and do nothing. In my experience that is wildly inaccurate.

A good therapist calls you on your shit. You can't do therapy without taking a good long look in the mirror.

But this is fiat land. Solving problems would cause a contraction of GDP.

same. i've experienced this.

the person who helped me the most isn't even a therapist.

Therapy actually helping people breaks a lot of world views.

Therapy is a scam. You won't fix anything by talking about your superficial problems for hours, weeks, or years. They are just the symptoms. The root issue is mostly in the past, some emotion that you have to access and release. Find the right person to guide you through it and you'll heal instantly.

You like really believe that?

Have you read any books on these topics? Do you have any understanding of how the different parts of the brain work? What is the source of your research?

Honestly I see both points. I was given a lot of therapy for my mental issues and insecurities. But all it did was just keep me in a loop of medication and not any improvement. But after I stopped going (because I couldn't afford insurance at the time.) I was forced to deal with the music and stopped taking meds because I couldn't afford them. So I had to build myself up and fix my internal struggles. I learned ways to manage and communicate my issues. I stopped being reliant to the therapist and the meds. But I still struggled with some issues, then I found out about meditation and a person who follows a certain religion. I can't really tell you what it was called because I don't know the name I just know they were one of the last few people who follow it. But after a while I realized that their teachings and time spent together was therapy just not in the clinical sense. My point with telling my story is that therapy only helps if someone has that hunger or desire to live and improve. But therapy is a good way to keep yourself planted and connected with others that you are close with.
