I think it does. I'd say the organic, slow growth strengthens the core community. It inhales (influx of new users), exhales - prunes out weak connections (bored/unready users leave) and makes the lasting ones stronger

This is a good question, many of the connections I have are people I knew already. I have no new connections made purely on Nostr yet.
