I have a Linksys E2000 that I've been using for a LAN that seems to have died. It's been 15 years since I shopped for a wifi router.

Are there any recommendations?

It's mostly for my media server that is plugged into our TV. My only plan now is to buy the cheapest Asus/TP-link/Netgear router available, but that's probably not wise.

I bought ones that can run OpenWRT. They aren't usually the newest whiz-bang thing, though.

I'm a fan of TP-Link. Definitely bottom shelf, but it'll let you run a mesh network with cheap hardware. I upgraded to a Netgear nighthawk and it is faster, but only noticeable on a speed test and I lost my mesh.

I'll go back to TP-Link after this one dies.

In my house, I set up a non wireless TP-Link ER605 router and a bunch of EAP-245 wireless access points. I installed it all years ago and haven’t had any problems since.
