AT protocol is http request. Nostr is websocket.

AT has websockets support too, multiple formats and encodings, it's a huge mess, totally unimplementable. Their approach is "don't even try, use our libraries".

So the worst thing about this business model is not that it's a copy of NIP-05

It's that these are not even http domains. They are at URI domains which they control. So they control a DNS behind the DNS. So two single points of failure instead of one.
