What if your doctor googles something right in front of you?

I think that is ok If he is a doctor 🀣 but I don't make the rules

*clears throat* …she πŸ™ƒ

gender does not play a role for me at the doctor's

Do you really think being a physician means never looking up information? Lol Dude, medicine changes so fast that a fuck ton of time is spent reading through the literature or seeing what's out there regarding particular issues. There will be new knowledge published this month that I won't know until I go looking for it online. Probably a lot of information. You tend to remember a lot of universal basic stuff after working in healthcare for a while, but no one remembers everything. I frequently watch refresher videos for various procedures before doing them. That's called being a good healthcare provider. The arrogant ones are those who think they know everything and end up causing harm.

You should consider it a good sign if a provider sits with you and does research. It probably means they want to build a relationship and include you in the process. Most go out of the room to do the same thing because of this sort of attitude. All you're really doing is wasting time and harming the bond.

This is the funny because in the UK doctors literally google stuff online in front of you! Good thing that the internet always knows the correct answer!

We do a lot of research in emergency medicine. The issue isn't looking stuff up. It's having a basic understanding of many concepts that allow us to determine which information is relevant for a problem. A lot of experience and time goes into becoming good at digging through it all.

Sounds like it works similar to programming

To be fair, any highly skilled career should involve a lot of research.

true … but in my opinion a lot of people are to lazy to do their research

Well, life has many built-in filtering mechanisms. Lol

Research is the mechanical process of it; discernment is the necessary skill.

No need for Google anymore
