Is there an easier way to find people to follow with similar interests? I’ve searched hashtags and only find a few people that post within them. #asknostr

Add some more relays - it will help you reach more people
I dont know how to do that 🥲 but I’ll try to figure it out!
I know there are group chats as well as searching keywords/ hash tags.
What are you specifically looking for? Nostr is underdeveloped compared to content on other media.
Anything related to my interests! I’ll just keep looking using hashtags.
Look in other peoples followers too and follow like minded humans you align with. 💜🫂💫
What clients are you using?
You can search profiles by keyword on nostr:npub1sx9rnd03vs34lp39fvfv5krwlnxpl90f3dzuk8y3cuwutk2gdhdqjz6g8m
I dont know what hashtags you searched but in case you didnt know adding str or chain behind things can really help
Examples
#foodstr
#flowerchain
You could also try out clients like primal or check communities
We're still pretty early on the adoption curve for nostr so there's really not the user base your used to yet. Think thousands of people instead of millions, but the best strategy is to find 1 you love and steal their followers
If you’re on Primal, you can get a good view of the hashtags that are being commonly used — #spirituality for example is a little further down but has a good amount of activity.
TLDR: Nostr Users should curate a list of people to follow that includes people's perferred relays.
#asknostr #whotofollow #findpeople #newtonostr
The difficulty finding like minded people should make it all the more clear how much twitter has dominated the converstaion by serving up what they (advertisers/gov spooks/anyone with an agenda) want you to see. Social media is a business (+ quietly a state actor), and the users are the product. It did not start out that way... hopefully nostr will remain free from this social engineering... but it will not unless the users demand it stay free.
I would advise everyone to try different clients and pay attention to the relays people use. Some clients make it easy to see what relays someone uses, while other clients obfuscate that information and users may never even see your posts.
When I find someone who's posts I like, I open their timeline to see who they follow and see who I might want to add. Then I go to my gossip client and add you. (thanks to mike dilger)
As an example, nostr:npub1mj2n5g2gsq4rhcqwmgegvux42dq5alfp3gv4zw8jnuw06zdwelysxxz5r2 I can see who you follow using a client like nostter:

I hope you find lots of people you enjoy!
! Ditch twitterx fakebook and google: and open source everything.
You can look through other people's curated lists at listr.lol
Didn’t know about this cool tool!
This was SO helpful!!! Thank you all 🙏🏻
Good advice in this thread! I’ve been standing on the corner shouting my npub and interests at passers by, but it’s a small town so your mileage may vary 🤷
Post interesting stuff, with hashtags, and let them find you.
watch out for what the people you follow comment on. it’s a great way to find new people and interesting topics :)
what client are you using?
Shitpost, that is the way
You can search for keywords you are interested in on damus
