Core is proposing a big change to default policy that will effect everyone that updates their node and does not change default settings.
Knots is node software with extra features, but any node today runs the default filter settings- βswitching to knotsβ is mostly a form of protest and user flagging.
Staying on an old Bitcoin core version is the same thing.
