why would nuclear engineers entertain the opinion of the general public? you could argue bitcoin is more important than the operation of a nuclear power plant. its engineering and game theory over feels.

Maybe they should … and we wouldn’t have insane meltdowns …

I’m a nuclear engineer. Sometimes the best ideas come from contractors who have real world experience. We are all plebs including the devs.

Because sometimes you have to look outside your fucking box. Well said.

Thanks for saying this! Src: power sector and not many are as open minded as they should be, or as smart as outsiders would think

that you are. yes.

yeah but you're not encorporating the opinions of twitter users into your engineering decisions. lets be honest.

A good idea is a good idea. If I was having a discussion on twitter about it I wouldn’t write off the idea because of the forum. My biggest turn off from bitcoiners is the ego many carry, that getting into bitcoin made them a genius in all aspects. Just because someone is a dev doesn’t mean they actually understand all aspects.

I no longer believe you are an engineer if you actually believe this. i don’t think i’ve ever seen a good idea from twitter, it only happens via actual contributions

Yeah it’s like saying “but what if”

What if some rando had a good idea… it happens I guess.

Typically the good ideas come from ACTUALLY KNOWLEDGEABLE PEOPLE

I see you fit into that group. I’m not here to boost my ego or prove myself. I’ll return to shit posting now.

Contractors with firsthand experience are not “plebs”. They are experienced professionals with expertise in the topic. This is silly.

The correct comparison would be a nuclear engineer getting advice on power plant operation from a musician.

Not it wouldn’t. It would actually be egoistical engineer who doesn’t consult his operators or maintenance tech before a system design. Which inevitably will lead to the engineer getting shit canned.

You right, they should copy the Core playbook and just nuke any city they want.

You take ideas from non developers all of the time.

You mean the deplorable public? 😂 What a conceited ass.

A flawed analogy. Node runners are not the general public, although it is a spectrum, so more like sub-station operator or lineman. Still a flawed analogy…

The key part is not the engineering (I’m tired of repeating this).

It’s more like a government which was previously serving the public but then began to serve corporate interests.

People hate that shit.

You're not nuclear engineers, regardless of how smart you think you are. The only thing you're nuking is your own credibility.

says the shitcoiner

I only print fiat to buy Bitcoin. I don't make bad policy decisions regarding Bitcoin development, for the benefit of the companies paying me.

I think the current devs should be far more humble. It's only once in a century -- or maybe ten centuries -- that a discovery like Bitcoin is made. It should be approached with a reverence compared to which mere conservatism would look like libertine excess. The vibes I'm getting from Core and their sycophants is "we are anarchic geniuses, you know nothing compared to us, only we 'know what bitcoin is'; we've got a lot of things we want to try -- wheee! -- so just shut up, stop spoiling our fun, and enjoy the anarchy."

First, flawed analogy. A nuclear plant is a centralized, permissioned entity.

Bitcoin's governance (by design) is social consensus, not a dictatorship of engineers. The engineers serve the users, not the other way around. Without adoption and buy-in from the public, the most elegant code is just a failed project.

probably best middle ground would be leave the default and give users ability to change if they want

This needs a good strawman! Here you go! Have you heard of central bank ? They believe they need to control the money, they think they are smarter than the market.

How did you become infected with this arrogance?

you mean common sense?

Arrogance is thinking you know better over a nuclear engineer. I would not try to tell them how to do their job

There would be no nuclear reactor for the engineer to operate without the public’s consent and complicity. Your analogy doesn’t hold: authority is never self-justifying. Nobody is above scrutiny. Authority is not claimed—it is conditionally granted, and once granted, it remains fragile, revoked the moment those entrusted prove unworthy of the respect that sustained it.

nice chatgpt reply bro

Just cleaned it up. Chat can't think for shit

He's right tho.
