I hate when chefs cheat on recipes. Everything going well and then.. boom... 2 sticks of butter... or a full cup of cream... for 2 portions? Wtf.
If you need lots of fat to make your food taste good, you failed. Sorry.

That’s cheating?
Yes.
No. The rules are does it taste good or not.
Anything tastes good if you add tons of fat. You don't even need to know how to cook. Same for drinks and sugar. You can get the worst food imaginable. Add fat or sugar and everybody will love it (and die 5 years earlier).
So using obscene amounts of butter or cream to cook healthy food is cheating. If my goal was least calories per plate I could call it cheating. But if I don’t have that objective and I know it’ll taste good if I add unhealthy ingredients and don’t care about the calories then I’m just making a delicious meal.
Broccoli alone can taste really good. Or you can cook it incorrectly and fix it with butter. Besides making everything taste like butter, the use of fat tells me that the cook knows nothing about food.
Agreed, but I wouldn’t call it cheating.
But it is. Another is rice. Rice doesnt need any butter. But if you don't know how to cook it, throw a stick of butter in it and boom it's delicious. It doesn't taste like rice, but most people don't care. All they want is the unidimensional taste of fat. They wouldn't know how to recognize anything else.
😂 I’ve actually never made rice with butter. I’m sure it tastes great. I guess I turn it to nostr then. If a client is asking for a feature, and by implementing the feature you would need to deviate from the ideal path you’ve set out, are you cheating for appeasing the client?
If the feature is designed to drive clicks and doom scrolling, yes.
Alright fine, it’s cheating then. Just give me a goddamn gif button! 😂
Except potato vegetables don't taste good if compared to anything else and broccoli is the worst, most people will just rain salt on it and pretend it's any good.
The secret to most recipes is a lot more salt and a lot more butter than you think you need 🤣
Yeah, pretty unidimensional.
There is a lot of fat in a ribeye.
It's good, but not my preferred. I eat steak for the beefy flavor, not for the fat.
The secret is less ingredients, and intensify the flavours of each.
I will say, 250ml of heavy cream, reduced to 50ml, or Beurre Monté with a copious amount of unsalted grass fed butter is just what the doctor ordered, but it depends.
Sometimes more is more. Glace de viande for instance. 10kg roasted veal bones, marrow and trimmings for 500 ml of sauce. Dreams are made of this stuff.
Same… as I shamelessly finish a whole pint of ice cream by myself because why not.
do not move to france 😆
Yes of course
