It depends where in Europe and North Africa you are. On the beaches of some places in North Africa, robberies with firearms sometimes occur.

The Med is gorgeous. I’ve seen it from the eastern shore a few times.
The water was not as clean as that. Probably just because the flotsam, jetsam, etc tends to collect there because there is nowhere for it to go further east.
Looks beautiful .. but admitedly my baltic sea a$$ finds the European part of the mediterranean sea sufficiently warm 😄
I hate cold water so the warmth of African waters is a big deal for me.

I guess the reason is simple. Less people settled in the Sahara desert due to weather conditions.
