That was the wrong way of expressing my opinion. Stuff like ecash locked to npubs is fascinating to me, but I guess that concept only works at scale if you have a social network in the first place. Perhaps I find the downstream effects of "decentralized/censorship resistant social media" more interesting than simply just the social media element.

May you share the apps that use Nostr for this? How are these made better by ID + signatures?
Because I own the key that signed them. I run my own relay. So I never lose my content I made for these purposes and I can integrate anything I ever made on nostr into any other website whenever I want.
I don't use apps for nostr other stuff because there's not a lot out there. I usually make my own other events and integrate that into apps I'm making or my website.
For instance I run a rmtp server locally to stream obs to. I have a section on my site that self hosts live streams. I made my site use my keys to make the streams into nostr events. All I have to do is click start streaming on obs and boom, I'm live on nostr. That event now contains the stream url, recording, metadata and anything else I want to put there. Now I'm using nostr to build my site with these events which is more complicated but now I have a persissionelss protocol to gain an automatic audience on top of all the data being local and self hosted.
