i mean, he's not wrong though.

the idea that an application for a decentralized protocol needs to be on a centralized app store or else people throw a hissy fit is pretty funny.

i wouldn't call nostr a failure for it, but i think those pushing so hard for a native ios app should really think about the implications of what they are pushing for.

I think under the frame of a counterculture kid in highschool, they see their friends using a feature they simply cannot on their IPhone, and see a reason to change.

A truly decentralized app can live on any system. But to do the most good for the most people, distribution to a wide audience, helps to grow the network effects. You can want both.

You can want both, but if you're purchasing products from companies who won't give you both, you're not really being deprived of any right or privilege. Apple can do what they want with their products, the question will always be "How far are you willing to bend over?" πŸ˜‚

EU: hold by beer

I had read somewhere that they want to force everyone back into implementing user replaceable batteries in cell phones. My fucking sides. 🀣🀣🀣

nothing like needing the government to come in to save you from needing to change

All the way, sir. All the way

Agreed, want both, be prepared if you get a no, rejoice if you get an ok

People who care about software enough create their own hardware. Steve Jobs quoted this from Alan Key in the original iPhone launch. Time for Nophone.

it's the seemingly prevalent cognitive dissonance being held amongst ios users that nostr is awesome partly because of its decentralized nature but also we need to have our walled garden application when there great, feature-rich alternatives out there that are cross platform, which means they can benefit from a large user base than just OS specific apps.

He is fully wrong.

The fact that an all is attempting to get distribution where users are says absolutely nothing about the protocol.

Just like bitcoiner a using YouTube for its distribution.

nostr:npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s is doing lord’s work by putting up with this shit for the good of Damus and nostr; we should be so lucky to have as many dedicated and relentless builders as him.

just like a smart bitcoiner that uses YouTube in addition to rumble, Odyssey, bitchute, etc for distributing their content in preparation for the inevitable ban hammer, nostr:npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s should have tossed damus iOS for damus web a long time ago when he was thinking about it. these iOS shenanigans were inevitable. instead of moving forward, he's stuck dealing with arbitrary bureaucracy that could change at any moment through no fault of his own, as we've seen.

I appreciate everything he's don't for this community but I think he starts considering fulltime on damus web or start porting to something more cross platform like react native or flutter.
