I sometimes forget we have a whole generation of bitcoiners who weren't around for this pre-blocksize wars stuff ... there were basically 3 big dramas around mining back in that era. This one (Luke's censorship, and more generally the controversy around satoshi dice), the ghash.io 50% drama, and the butterfly labs '2 weeks' delivery.
I mean OK there were probably 10 others I don't remember š
I'm not including the OP_RETURN drama, it kinda overlaps I guess

Fair question. Also worth noting that Luke and ocean have been deceiving in their communication as well. I have no doubt this will evolve into a soft fork debate

Can you elaborate why you refute that changes in Bitcoin core to the byte limit didnāt set a new standard? It seems that the higher byte standard is in much wider use than that used in knots. A one word answer isnāt adequate communication.
Luke, don't pay attention to anyone's attacks, these are hyenas fighting over carrion. Do your deeds with all your heart and do not waste your mental strength on them.

Perhaps, but to suggest he is attacking bitcoin is clearly untrue. His work, and the work of many others, over the years is, in part, why we are all here using bitcoin.
Just block out the noise, check out the pool, or just watch the project evolve into something beautiful over the next 12 months.
I donāt think I ever suggested that this is an attack on bitcoinā¦ I think itās clear that Luke would like to see changes to core that could even result in a softfork, but that is part of the natural progression of the protocol.
My concerns are more around the mode of implementation, but more deeply probably just the communication (or lack thereof). Admittedly, the more I have read into the old Bitcoin core PRs I actually see a lot of consistency in what Luke is trying to do with ocean. Unfortunately, I donāt think his comments on Twitter have adequately reflected that at all.
I hope he can bring some of his thoughts together and share them more cohesively with the community either on his own or through ocean.

I just think itās funny to make a stink about an ebuild patch that is entirely optional. It would be more scandalous if a binary was shipped with the patch but this is much different.

Those dice sites are objectively tremendously inefficient use of block space and have impacted how easy it is to sync a full node. You like full nodes right?
