Und jetzt wirds Zeit für ne Lightningnode
Easy, ganz entspannt. Schritt für Schritt hier haha
Nice 👏✨
🔥🔥🔥
🙌🏼💅🏼
Cool! Lässt du das über deinen Apple Laptop laufen?
💪🏻🔥
Good job!!
What is it you're drinking?
🤙😀

Switch to Knots 💜
this is my first one 😅 need some help here why would I switch to Knots?
The Bitcoin core devs are making changes that do not benefit Bitcoin.
Here is some history from myself and others if you want to know more:

Looks like that change is sitting on 41 NAKs and counting. Maintainers tend to steer clear of merging things that controversial. It’s really just a small group pushing hard for it—but we’ll see how it plays out.
Knots is a tricky one. It’s got a modest but real user base and it does implement the Bitcoin protocol. But it also opens up a tough question: what happens when there are two slightly different sets of rules?
On one hand, that increases the risk of a chain split if one set changes and the other doesn’t. On the other, it might slow things down—in a good way—by making it harder to push through changes without broad consensus. aka ossification.
At the end of the day, we’ve got to remember why people run nodes in the first place: to uphold the rules and take part in protecting the network. It’s all about user agency. And we're only just beginning to figure out how to really support that.
Is a chain split a real possibility?
No.
This is not a fork war, it’s different.
The politics are the same, but the argument is different and much smaller in the scheme of things.
It’s not impossible to head down that route, but pretty close to impossible.
That's what I thought
You could also argue that the fork already happened and it created Ethereum, which is designed to store JPEGs.
Jpegs have been stored on Bitcoin since inception,
It's just been treated as spam since inception.
Is it still being treated as spam? Maybe.
The more important part to impress on people is that we need a functioning alternative to core - as optionality breeds free market of ideas actually proliferating.
Do you mean the whitepaper?
Yes, but have you seen how complex that was to do 😂
Also, I think we all appreciate the whitepaper being stored on the blockchain itself.
Agreed about diversity from core, but also for me it was about transparency. The fact that the core devs weren't prepared to discuss it with us was their biggest mistake IMHO.
I still don't fully understand the argument nor fully know which informed choice I would make.
All I know is I don't have an informed choice, because Core won't inform me.
Not the whitepaper, actually just arbitrary bullshit.
This has been going on for a lot longer than most people realize 🥲.
Like I said this has less to do with this specific change & moreso just a need for us to catalyze a secondary option.
You're achieving this by promoting knots.
Yes, it became very clear we need to diversify.
I just wish the wokes hadn’t kidnapped that word. I seem to be using it a lot here 😂
Bitcoin Core version 0.9 released March 2014.

Damn! Guess they don’t have a leg to stand on.
did you read this ?

Yes
Don’t assume we want to prune our nodes! Maybe we want a full node for our own reasons. It’s like spitting in someone else’s food and then telling them they don’t need to finish eating it.
There’s plenty of information from core devs, they can’t also read it to every single person. example : https://antoinep.com/posts/relay_policy_drama/
The whole thing is about removing a filter that doesn’t filter anything. Really unimportant when you actually dig deeper.
Yes the discussion has progressed.
If you look through my feed, you will see me attempt to evolve the discussion on the Knots side, but also try to amplify the Core side without any backing voice behind it.
On the surface the filter is unimportant, but not in the depth. If you re-read my 6:39am message, you will see me evolve this discussion further as well.
I am by no means an expert, but I am unaware of any expert on the Core side speaking out.
And it‘s not even spam if you paid your sats/byte. Or is it… Bitcoin is not abusable.
We define spam as all non-monetary use cases, since inception - re: since Satoshi.
Whether we can sustainably fight it off completely is a contentious debate that cannot be had in earnest until emotions are stabilized again.
C'mon Mike she just got her node up and running,
You can advise her maybe to not update core for a while until the dust settles 🤣
It would be easier to delete Core before it synched and start with Knots instead.
The alternative is this, which may be a squeaky bottom experience for some 😂
You can simply choose not to install updates until you understand the arguments for and against Core and Knots. Don’t let anyone bully you into doing something you don’t understand. This applies to any situation, not just in bitcoin.
Also, if you’d like tips on running a node and want to connect with a whole community of users at all levels, we have a group called nostr:npub1hxfkcs9gvtm49702rmwn2aeuvhkd2w6f0svm4sl84g8glhzx5u9srk5p6t just for that.
Consider knots
Hello, on a rabserry or on a umbrel home ?
Congrats! Welcome to the DIY club
Congrats!
💪🏾
Congratulations tanja 💪🤝🧡
👌
Is your node configured in listening mode?
You can check here https://bitnodes.io/#join-the-network whether your node can be found by other nodes. Then your node really contributes to the network, otherwise only you benefit from it.
Beautiful congratulations
