I hate to bring this back on the table but according to the live stream, Nah•Stir seems to be winning 😗

Lol, yeah I believe that’s it and that’s how #[2] and #[3] have pronounced it on podcast.

Hence I believe Damus came about (Nostr-Damus)

Although I keep hearing Day-mus not Daw-mus… 🤔

I’m also American so we pronounce him “No-stur-daw-muhs”. Maybe the rest of the world has it right. 😂

I’m Team DAW•MUS 💯 but I’ve definitely heard Americans say DAY•MUS and even No•stur•day•mus!

As it should be. ✊🏼

I did see someone make the mistake of calling it ‘no str’

And I thought Nostr came from the Latin word for „ours“, signaling how it is the network of the plebs…

But apparently like with pleeeeeehb debate, actual cultural inspiration quickly dies in this community.

How does that affect the pronunciation?

Nuestro (SP), Nosso (PR)

Have very different sounds but are also derived from Latin.

Also, any foreign word used and said in another language will sound different.

(Los Angeles)

Monster (you don’t say moan str)

Nostr

Foster

Nostr

Boston

Nostr

Simple. You pronounce it like the word nostro in Italian.

If it was pronounced ‘no star’ you would have to spell it;

Knowstr

🤣🤣🤣

I'm thinkin about stickin a silent K on the front just to spice things up

Knaw-ster🤣

It’s definitely nostr (nah-stir). Just sounds better than nostr (know-stir).

Let’s go 😎

I feel like it's because of Ben's accent

Yeah I thought about that too! It will be interesting to have the tally by end of the conference
