Software being fast is not a selling point if it's not also correct.

Lots of software is really good at doing the wrong thing extremely efficiently.

Like SQL databases for example.

In order to store data in a SQL database efficiently, you have to mangle it beyond the point of recognition. The data ends up all wrong and jumbled, but hey, it's fast.

You take any useful data in the world, and your first thought for organizing it isn't in tables.

It's the process of taking organic data and forcing it into tables that is, in my opinion, mangling.
