Anyone in Austin have or know of a garage I can rent that will let me store tires and car parts but also let me wrench on a vehicle? These self storage places don't let you work on cars..

I believe there's an app called neighbors That will help you with.

Gracias, I will look into that

Not what you're looking for stroragewise. But if you ever need to rent a LIFT to put that sucker up in the air Austin DIY shop (they also have floor space no lift, who knows if you called the bossman and asked.... the place is little rugged maybe they could let you park somewhere too I dunno 🤷‍♂️)

Oh hell yes this is PERFECT

THANK YOU!

No problem. I been changing my oil, and couple small maintenance things there from time to time. So far so good. Sometimes it is just easier to stand up, no jacks no bs (easier for a non mechanic like me)

This one time, the bossman guy after chit chatting being cool with him, he hooked me up with this. Kept it as souvenir cuz DIY 💪. My proof I'm not must making shit up hahaha

Haha dude that is great. Sounds like an awesome and chill place.

I'm going to swing by soon just to scope it out. They have tools there for you to use as well?

Yea they have all the toolboxes for days. I still brought my stuff but they have everything..... everything pretty much. You'll see. And don't go super early I showed up per advertised early AM once and it was still closed haha

I was gonna re-buy an entire set of tools since I left everything at my parents place in Jersey but this saves me the hassle of doing that and storing it all. Incredible.

Also thanks for the heads up on the early bird special 😂

Amazing how many self storage places don’t want you actively using the space. Its so nice when it’s a smaller establishment and you can get to know them. When I rent a “garage” space I want to use it for that. And I’m happy to pay for any electricity I use as well if that’s the concern, but it’s frustrating that there seems to be such a tiny option for something that seems like it would be decent demand for. Example: imagine a place that literally rented out each unit as a powered & metered garage/work space. That seems like it would be really valuable. Yet it seems almost impossible to find, and any workshop/machine shop space is inevitably way more expensive, already has tools, and is of course, so far away as to not be very helpful. At least this always seems to be my experience.

(TL;DR - I don’t have a garage and it makes me sad, so I’m going to complain about not having a simple solution 😆)

Also been thinking about this. Especially with the increase in “renter society”, and people who own nothing. Storage / workshop space seems like a no brainer?

It's crazy to me but I guess I understand from a liability pov. Don't want idiots crushing themselves because they didn't use jack stands when crawling under a car.
