what's a hodl?
It's a mispelling of the word hold that someone had typed in a drunk forum post.
People liked it, it became a bit of a meme and now it is part of culture to say hodl instead of hold when talking about bitcoin.

Depends on what's your local currency. Where I am 1000 sats equals $4.00 TTD, which is $0.59 USD. But bitcoin doesn't lose value like fiat currencies do so it's a pretty great savings technology

Hold them. Or use it to zap content that you like so you encourage people to post more of it.

Hold a big portion, spend a small portion (zaps for example). When you got around $1,000 worth of Sats, ask again.

1 sat is 100 millionth of a Bitcoin. Sats are basically bitcoin. You might heard Bitcoin is slow and expensive to transact which in some scenarios is true, but this sats you received are transacting on the lightning netvork which is like a faster side layer next to a Bitcoin Blockchain. The cost of transaction are in dollars term almost nothing.

Or if somehow get caught in the Bitcoin conversation you can say "oh yes Bitcoin I pay my favourite blogger with Bitcoin"
