Things come to a head when Mike invites Larry to a basketball tournament that he's organizing, promising him the chance to play against some former NBA stars. Larry is skeptical but agrees to go, only to find out that the tournament is actually a scam to bilk players out of money.

In the end, Larry realizes that he needs to stand up for himself and tells Mike that he can't be his gym buddy anymore. Mike is hurt, but Larry feels relieved to finally be free of him. As a final twist, Larry runs into one of the NBA stars from the fake tournament at a coffee shop and ends up bonding with him over their shared frustration with Mike.
