Zap to comment would be an interesting feature π€
Discussion
Interesting. What about commenting on a comment. Just zap down the chain? Or original poster gets all the juice?
Apparently setting restrictions on how others interact with your notes is against the protocols design.
While a singular client could implement this feature, it would not prevent other clients from simply ignoring this feature and allowing people to comment freely.
I agree with you though, we should be able to control the methods by which others can interact with our notes.
Id imagine only a private relay could facilitate this feature across the client ecosystem.
Mixed feelings there. I can see how/why it could be useful for many reasons but it could also create the "blue check" environment.
Yea would like as an option on some client for experiment. Maybe a toggle on and off by note or user?
It would be interesting, for sure. Maybe it still catches all replies but only displays zap-to-reply comments when on, so the OP could still toggle off & see other replies if they choose to? By note is pretty brilliant. If there was a way to convey that the setting is on to the reader side, that would definitely slow me down on replying to things I probably have no business saying anything about π
I appreciate your perspective, always π I was thinking about this from a view of an author or artist, considering a model for monetization. I guess an unintended consequence could be a lack of engagement. Something to think about. π€
Well thank you! I know I can be noise sometimesπ ...but I hadn't even thought about it as a monetization tool, I'll have to think on that more. With a decent sized fanbase, that probably would be nice to have. My mind immediately went to a filtering mechanism, which would probably also be nice for some.
Technically impossible from the protocol level. This would be a client app feature to filter non-zapping comments. Otherwise, all the relays one queries would have to implement the feature too.
