At what step did you get stuck?
I didn’t really get stuck, I just didn’t have a connection for a while. I also don’t really understand where the 24k sats went and what it was for? I know I need to pay 10k a month for using a hub, but was the other 24k to open a channel?

Exactly. You seem to have paid an LSP to provide you with a channel and some inbound liquidity.
