People rave about emacs being able to do everything which may be true. But I’ve never seen it do everything well

its super powerful but a bit clunky

Yeah there’s definitely some killer use cases for it

magit is the killer app

emacs with evil mode is the best of both worlds

I used spacemacs for the longest time and even contributed a layer (notmuch), i eventually went back to vim with no plugins. Simpler life.

OpenBSDs maintained version of Vi ❤️

VSCode

😂

Vim is great, but Neovim is the endgame.

yeah I use neovim, mainly because the clipboard doesn't work right in vanilla vim

nano gang 🤭

I was just gonna say the guy on the right is nano 😂

maybe ed

I didn’t even know about that one. Had to look it up. 😂

Nah, Emacs better

you are just reaffirming the image. surely the equipment is better right?

YAAAAAAS! VIM FOR LYFE.

nano and micro...

#vimOnly :-) .. seriously waiting for nostr apps to support vim keybindings .. at least the desktop ones .. like vimium ..

notedeck will have vim bindings!

Nice. I couldn't get into gossip, too much mouse

Emacs is not complex, it is you who born with only 5 fingers in each hand.

Nano is the best

Nah, I’d stick with vim.

There's a reason I'm part of the Cult of Vim (as they call it) and not the Church of Emacs (though I had dabbled into Emacs before through Doom Emacs).

I loved emacs (wth evil bindings) for the longest time. Over time I determined it wasnt worth the effort keeping all the packages from breaking. Now I just use nvim with no plugins, although i do have a spacemacs-style command launcher using fzf. I’ve effectively built an IDE into my terminal now, with commands that launch nvim at certain places in the file.
