I’ve tried many times to delete facebook but they make the process so slow and cumbersome I end up giving up. Have to try again!

Family over seas who won't useanything else doe communication. That's the inky reason I was still on fb.

That may be easier for some to cut ties with loved ones thousands of miles away than for others.
My compromise is I have that messenger on an old separate tablet on a separate subnet over VPN with no profile.
One of my grannies can so things that devs on here cannot.
The other only knows what comes with her smartphone.

Life is more peaceful without Meta.
It’s great when we “clean up” this clutter and focus on the things we really care about. Deleting social media accounts that we just use without REALLY wanting to be there is so good for mental health probably.

Stopped using Twitter in 2024. I gotta get my peeps onto Nostr from Twitter. That's where I found all my non-local agorist / anarchist friends online.
I deleted Facebook about 11 years ago. Social media is mostly government approved propaganda.

I deleted Facebook what feels like 15 years ago, X in 2023 I think, and LinkedIn last year.

As of today Nostr is the primary social network I use.
It has been a year since I completely deleted FB and IG which I never used.
Today I deactivated Twitter as it was a big distraction lately. I still have and use reddit to read local rants.
LinkedIn profile is still there for potential jobs and hires–mainly to introduce myself and a way of sharing CV. Since my last meaningful use of it was in 2020, I'm becoming more confident I would never use it for anything, so I might as well delete it completely soon.
For future gigs I'll have to depend on friends, local connections, and those from Bitcoin/Nostr circles.
