You can just do that on your own small scale
barter and trade never really worked - one reason modern humans outcompeted neanderthals, was how money (in the form of jewelry) transformed homo sapiens sapiens into a superorganism, allowing larger groups to exist and cooperate, and out breed, than smaller neanderthal tribes
You can barter, but it’s inefficient - matching wants, valuing and dividing goods, and storing wealth are cumbersome.
You can try it, but you’ll likely return to money because it’s far more efficient.

do you think she was making the point though, that its so hard to own land now with mass immigration, and everywhere is being zoned for high rises. I have no issue paying, but I get sick of people that say, just grow your own. We were supposed to have access to land and grow and harvest, not buy from the supermarket once its all been through conveyor belts, stamped, stickered, sprayed and freighted.
