best currently-viable solution to that is to just stand up a new/alternative DNS/SSL root, consider it to be a small parallel universe inhabited by those who explicitly wish to use it. Let that network grow and accrue value on the basis of being _not_ the currently antagonistic/controlled/censored system.

Our whole "how can I find a certain resource by human-readable domain" system relies on a single centralized thing and that thing is unlikely to bend to new suggestions (like adding nostr-key-based domains).

But we can just make **another** thing very much like it, and choose to use that.

yes, but the supply chain for desktop hardware is open and stable. mobile device supply chains are specialized and secretive

thats what they do with tesla chips, apple products etc... whats stopping government regulation? if crypto is really disruptive seems like an inevitable issue

we use general purpose chips *everywhere*. twenty years ago my car had thirty 90's era desktop cpus in it (m68k). last year my kids got laser tag that uses the same class chips, which are about 10¢ now. killing general compute borders on physically impossible.

whereas gimping Apple and Samsung mobile SoC's borders on easy. ensuring touch screens, mobile gpus, and basebands have binary blob drivers is almost the default.

We need to start using mesh networking on mobile devices with internet capabilities removed to still enjoy the benefits of them in my opinion. Reticulum and Meshtastic are the best bets.
