Bitchat is number 9 in social network trending apps in App Store

It a new wave🔥🔥high signal
I tried it, it's fun. But I wonder: what would its daily use be? Barring some catastrophe, who uses it every day?
Probably teens (groups of teens), co-workers maybe, or anyone in a high density area like Tokyo. Perhaps as a fun way to chat in a cafe with a total stranger.
Someone could make an open source tinder clone using the same principle. You date and see who is nearby, except they are actually nearby and theres no mega corp behind it.
Ew, you downloaded Threads. 🤣
the era of vibe coded apps to prod is here
I guess the entire point of this is that ultimately you end up with a mesh network communication system that can't be turned off because people already have these devices in their hands, right? So it doesn't matter if you lose network connectivity. This is about experimenting with getting mobile phones set up as mesh network nodes.
Basically, yes, #Meshtastic actually has much higher range, but you have to buy another device and carry it with you, where this uses the device you currently already own.
How much battery does it consume to relay messages
Seems to use hardly any from what I’ve seen today
Bitchat is number 3 in Germany 💥

Cant find it on androids app store. Is it geo-restricted to download?
Don’t think so. But I am not sure if it’s in google store. I recall calle was working on it
I don't think it's on the Google shit store yet, but you can pull it from here.
🧡🧡
proof of mind control whenever jack says jump. 🤙🏾
I can’t believe that apps that copied Twitter are at the top while it’s not.
Downloaded, but no one around to chat with...
This is why I’m not downloading it
Which is exactly why you should download it. The more people who have it, the more likely somebody is to be using it.
I have it on my device as a just-in-case measure, and so if somebody needs it without internet access, I can just send it to them via the APK file.
lol same
And yet I have not been able to send one message 😂
Could see how this would be critical in countries with poor internet or in war like environments. Communicating with each other would be critical with or without internet
I still can’t find any one on it thou
That's because of the incredibly short range. I thought very seriously about trying to set it up on my computer so that I could leave it running at all times as a relay. But that turned out to be a total pain in the ass, so I gave up on the idea. My thought was my computer hosts my Monero node and so is on all the time anyway. I might as well run a bitchat relay on it in order to improve the network. But compiling software was my downfall.
in a day?? wow
Nostr has the potential to replace all nine of those top apps. Keep building, keep growing, stay humble.
And yet, unless it works with or cooperates with Bridgefy, it will not stick, I fear.

Do you just, like, wait for someone to be in range(?)
as X now gets classified as a “news” app and thus implies it needs an editor, it is nice to see nostr:nprofile1qqsgydql3q4ka27d9wnlrmus4tvkrnc8ftc4h8h5fgyln54gl0a7dgspp4mhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mqpz3mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfdu0k0t75 still working on improving “social networking applications, protocols, etc.” missionary mode.
we need to socialize Nostr by introducing to many , i would suggest to have space on X so we can have more on boarding
Nostr is the last defence against censorship and surveillence.
would be super cool if it allows to send nostr messages over BLE and optionally send message online if that fails
