"CR" for short. Edited "Kicking the Hornet's Nest" (everything Satoshi wrote publicly in chronological order). Made the Nostr Wiki at https://nostrwiki.vercel.app and Nostr bridges: Nostrdon (with Mastodon) & Hostr (with Hive). Home page: https://crrdlx.vercel.app

Kudos to https://Coracle.social (and nostr:npub1jlrs53pkdfjnts29kveljul2sm0actt6n8dxrrzqcersttvcuv3qdjynqn?) for buidling in a web-of-trust score and placing it beside each Nostr user's avatar. Being able to give a glance at a user's score has value.

I think brainstorming a semi-standard WoT score would be helpful for Nostr at large. Mostly, I'd love to see more clients pick this up and run with something like this.

In an instant, my measly "3" (I was a "2" yesterday!) tells me something as compared to seeing a "0" user and certainly something different altogether when compared to a "20+" user. This helps.

Testing things and messing around with this Shopstr.store listing:

Not sure how that would work, turning a game into a token, but interesting. Certainly there are lots of games already with tokens built into them. Would love to see such a thing on #nostr

Made this clip from the Unchained podcast by Laura Shin. https://fountain.fm/clip/JO4GujaaACldPIr52NWs It's about a bitcoin layer 2 called Botanix. I'm not against L2s, actually think a ton of innovation can and will occur there, but...I dunno.

Sounds like a lot of steps, a lotta trust places, and a lotta chances for me to screw up somewhere along the line.

So, what you gotta do is...

. start on Ethereum

. use a bridge to port over to Botanix

. then you have wrapped ETH

. then you can go to uniswap and swap wrapped ETH for bitcoin

. then you have BTC on bitcoin

Love the last line in the clip, "Right, right."

I made this community for myself to, well, test out communities. But, if anyone else wishes to test, have at it. Learning is good and testing is a way to learn.

I really have no idea how my "posts" would get on your "profile." I think about what's on my profile...it's only what I've typed to be there. Not sure how that happened. Very strange.

Happy to say I just authorized edition 3 of "Kicking the Hornet's Nest" - all of Satoshi's public writings in chronological order. This edition has 100+ new "COPA trial" emails all interspersed with Satoshi's other writings. Interesting stuff.

nostr:npub16dhgpql60vmd4mnydjut87vla23a38j689jssaqlqqlzrtqtd0kqex0nkq just released a native Cashu wallet! You can now:

- Mint and receive tokens to top-up your wallet

- Create new tokens to copy and send to others

- Redeem your tokens for sats by paying out to a Lightning invoice

- Purchase items with Cashu directly from your wallet balance

All without having to leave the site!

Question for Shopstr: do you only do tangible items, or digital as well?

Is there a better source? My images from https://nostr.build/ look cheap and distorted. Most other community pics look crisp and clean?

You can use any source you want as far as I know for hosting images. Maybe upload to nostr as if you were going to include the image in a note, then copy/paste the URL into the banner slot on the form. I do a fair amount of stuff on the Hive blockchain, so I have several images housed there (hive.blog or peakd.com) and just use the URL that points to those servers. Maybe this helps.

Hi, not sure exactly what you're referring to. "Like spam?" I'm confused.

I drew this a couple of years back. Seems kinda apropos today.

Putting this out again...don't know why, but somehow I think it's important. Who can figure this out?

----

I don't know if it's possible, but it certainly _feels_ possible. Can there be NFTs on Nostr?

I've written and pondered on NFTs a few times and come up with a definition that I think works in laying out exactly what an NFT actually is. I defined NFTs as Verified Unique Ownership (VUO for short). (See NFTs defined in three words | PeakD and ponderings at PeakD)

The upshot of VUO is this:

V = verified = The NFT (which is nothing more than metadata such as a custom JSON) is openly visible to all to verify and cannot be altered.

U = unique = The NFT/metadata is unique. Although a monkey jpeg may be the same for all 1,000 mints, the owner of mint #1 will definitely not trade with the owner of mint #859.

O = ownership = The NFT can be transferred to another person and that transfer can also be verified.

With regards to Nostr, the V, the verified, seems to be the challenge. It seems that the hang-up would be persistence (or lack of persistence) in data. That is, having the metadata persistently stored on Nostr may be a high hurdle. It may be impossible. For instance, if I minted an NFT and the metadata got stored on several Nostr relays, it seems that would work. The data can be verified by others. It's persistently verifiable until...those relays go down or close up shop or purge that metadata note. Then, that NFT is gone. This, of course, differs from a blockchain.

Regarding the O of ownership, I'm really not sure how that would transpire on Nostr. But, I think clever people could figure that out. If the persistent V of verifiability were solved, then a persistent alteration should also be possible to track on the "Nostr blockchain", the "nostrchain."

If this were possible...what would be the use cases? I really don't know. I do think they would emerge though. Being around Nostr suggests to me that the fun-factor would be off-the-charts though. There are some clever and comical people in this space. Fun, is an important use-case in my view, by the way!

Wen NFTs on #Nostr?

😀 When you wake up Sunday morning expecting to go to church.

😧 Then realize you have a terrible rash growing from some reaction to something.

😞 Then go to the doctor, get a painful steroid shot, bunch of meds for the upcoming week.

Such was yesterday.

Plan: wake up and go to church.

Reality: wake up with terrible rash (Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever?), go to urgent care, get a painful steroid shot, take meds, go to pharmacy, get steroid pills for upcoming week.

Result: 😟

Thanks for the idea. I'm trying to make sure I'm straight, so I went back and clicked through lconf.gandlaf.com/#/4 at https://lconf.gandlaf.com/#/4 and through to "bearer token" /#21. So, you're saying that whomever holds the "bearer token" can redeem it on #cashu or #liquid or maybe #fedimint or even any other thing or protocol. (?) I understand that the bearer token is just proof-of-money, so to speak, so anyone or any protocol might be willing to accept because it has provable value. Am I thinking right?

I'm happy to add something to this effect to http://nostrwiki.crrdlx.infinityfreeapp.com/doku.php?id=wiki:ecash-and-cashu (or you could edit it too...it's a wiki 😉), I just wanna be as accurate as possible.

. Gavin's forum post here fits in four days later

I've never placed these dots on the timeline...wikileaks, invite from CIA at some point, "Kicking the hornet's nest" comment, Gavin's post, Satoshi silent. What does it mean? I dunno.

Sorry, typo. Should have been "form" on when trying to edit a community. That's the only place and manner I saw as well. Maybe this is the type of thing that will grow out a nostr does.

Been years, but I watched "Dave" (1993) again. That movie is just great.
