I don't care what anyone says. It's awesome to see fediverse replies appear on a Meta property.
Considering Threads isn't even a year old, this is enormous progress over anything Twitter ever did.

Chris, a question. You write that LinkedIn is the only social media which auto-suggests hashtags. Do you see Medium's topics bar somehow qualitatively different, because that, too, uses auto-suggest? I see them as effectively the same - the only different being syntactic wrt the use of # character or not.
nostr:npub1cscw5kknl3mwpqs8g8udnnwklzwpa2klfzl4wpumuwyjypppg5aset8pjk you mean in the "Add or edit topics" feature? It's similar, but seems quite secondary to composing content, whereas LinkedIn proposes them inline, where the audience will see them prominently.
Medium also doesn't link inline hashtags in the body of articles.
nostr:npub1cscw5kknl3mwpqs8g8udnnwklzwpa2klfzl4wpumuwyjypppg5aset8pjk this is good to know. I was unaware of that issue!
nostr:npub1lj756j70nykyqjtz5hfs43gkzyvzjpq36lt9u2qxxrp9jtqws5mqkdzczx I'm not aware of the changes (Phanpy is probably not so widely used compared to Ivory & Elk 😅). The collapsing only applies for hashtag "stuffing" cases (thus all the meticulous conditions set to detect them).
I do notice that I use more hashtags here than on Twitter, as folks (on Mastodon) can actually follow hashtags which appears on their Home timeline instead of a separate Search page 🤔
nostr:npub1jc6u6ggtwe8nf37axz0rdayqhn7r77aq9r3duj9uesr6axqnnk0q6y7v67 indeed, one of the more amazing ways in which Twitter missed the opportunity with hashtags!

nostr:npub1xzmt2d95f7watzyqktl982d7jfe5ptktusv4j20csz8nxxgmhq6q30eykm Got it. That does nullify one of my critiques. Glad to hear it.
I maintain that the behavior introduced with this change should be optional and opt-in by default, and that additional capabilities for hashtags and adding metadata should be explored, as the rest of my post suggests.
I will update my post within 48 hours to clarify.

nostr:npub1lj756j70nykyqjtz5hfs43gkzyvzjpq36lt9u2qxxrp9jtqws5mqkdzczx No, Vince Aggrippino. It's simple, if the end of the post is just hashtags, beginning with a newline, they are not rendered in the body. Yes, it does.

nostr:npub1yck44z5zqxmwpqzqs75ay6ffjdw843ng9p6mz0lzfff3fgz2djlsngujmw By "using it right now", do you mean you're able to stay in the same thread w/ me w/o mentioning my username? If so, that makes sense — since Twitter had the concept of "in-reply-to" threading that allowed posts to... be in reply to another thread, and it wasn't necessary to mention the OP.
