NoStrudel has an event publisher tool that lets you publish the live stream to Nostr directly.
nostr:npub1yvscx9vrmpcmwcmydrm8lauqdpngum4ne8xmkgc2d4rcaxrx7tkswdwzdu uses it each week to broadcast his owncast stream to Nostr.
I'll have to give that another try, I used it quite a few months back and it had issues broadcasting that the stream had ended (despite telling it). Nostrudel's the main client I'm using here so will try tomorrow. Cheers.

I currently use zap.stream as I can point my own server there (using Peertube). The streams show on Fountain but don't play, which is an issue I'm yet to solve, possibly a Peertube formatting issue.
I don’t know a single musician who does like them and even the likes of Taylor Swift and Snoop Dog have spoken out about not getting paid properly by them. And the model is very much ‘hey musician, go out there and advertise US, not you’. I don’t dig that vibe at all.

I’m ultimately looking to self host my band’s next release. I took out stuff off Spotify over a year ago and I only post here or the Fediverse, basically career suicide of sorts but I strongly believe we have to be the change we want to see in the world. Happy to see you’re getting a lot of love for your music here.

I respond, "thank you, I’ll think about it and let you know. Right now, silence feels great."
Then I wonder, "am I a bad customer for not wanting to make small talk and engage with my driver? I just don’t feel like talking right now, and silence does feel good."

It’s a potential problem for Nostr I guess. Primal seem well funded and are making good tools but will they exist in 5 years time? No shade on them, any new venture has a risk of failure. Also, whilst it won’t likely affect the content you or I make (I think) someone putting more edgy or politically sensitive content could cause Primal legal issues down the line… I wonder how they’re prepared for that? Eg. WikiLeaks or something similar. As it stands, we’re small and under the radar, not likely seen as any threat but that could change.
I do wonder should I just pay for hosting but I like the vibe of everything being in a shed somewhere in North Korea

Ah yep that totally makes sense. Ultimately a server somewhere has to host it and there’s a cost associated with that, someone has to buy and maintain that equipment!
Sounds good though… if I can work out how to make it play with PeerTube then I’ll have solved my biggest issue, that I can’t get the show working on PC2.0 apps (although it works on PC1 on regular RSS feeds.
I’ll keep trying!

Where is the video file hosted?
Don’t know where you’re based but if you’re ever in the UK it’s open to the public some days or, as in this case, they can do private sessions. Apparently they have a lot of film sound designers in. I was helping a visual artist with a video project. The only downside was I was working for someone and couldn’t just play with all the things I wanted to… but very cool all the same, he’s got Stanley Kubrick’s old film editing desk in there, plus so much weird and wonderful audio gear I could’ve happily spent many hours there.
I went to his studio a couple of months back, very cool! Got to record some of his machines :)
