The US is a joke. They are nothing of what they claim to stand for. There are wonderful folk in the US, but the leaders are disingenuous charlatans. At least with every step they are showing their true colors.
Writing fresh C++ for the first time in like 10 years. Decided it would be fun to have some Gtk notifications on changes certain network / mempool stats (using the my local mempool.space instance's API).
Initially wanted to make a top panel widget, but that didn't seem as easy. So notifications should work.
Katahdin hair sheep moving to a new pasture in the heart of lamb season
The sheep have moved on to a new pasture after 9 days on the last one. Each pasture should take about 15 days to graze but the we tend to move the sheep a little more quickly on the first pass of the season to be sure they don't over graze. This paddock I made extra large instead of the normal size. That way I can leave them in the same place longer instead of moving them every day or two. I'm thinking they will be in this paddock for 5-7 days. We like to keep the sheep moving to break the parasite cycle and to more evenly distribute the fertility and impact of the flock on the pastures, so 7 days is as long as we want to keep them in the same place. 4 days is what we've found to be ideal for us.

Moving the sheep a longer distance with new born lambs is challenging. Often the lambs don't follow along, get lost, or the ewes want to stay put with their lambs. I end up getting most of the flock to go along but always have to round up the stragglers, often having to carry lambs. All the lambs have been healthy and we're a little over halfway done. Lots of rams this season so there will be lots of meat for sale. We will start taking deposits on lamb mid July.

I'm trying to find documentation around the rationale of Capital Gains Tax and how it came to be a thing.
More and more I'm asking "why" about taxes... I can't believe how my whole life I'd just accepted all these taxes as if they're a law of nature without questioning their justification.
CGT is basically enforced donations to the government. I read how CGT was introduced so that it share the burden that had been covered my Income Tax only up until that point. As if Tax as a whole is some given thing. It's all just so annoying.
If the government provides certain services, let me opt in and pay for the value I get. V4V. wtf is this arbitrary percentage of gains nonsense.
I wish my wife would buy into this. I’m super down for it. I way prefer warming myself within a cold environment.
20years ago when I was a kid into punk music, going against the trend and at the same time learning how to code and messing on the internet… I wish I’d learned about about the cypherpunk movement. Or actually, any time between then and now!

The internet is not a "safe space." People need to have tougher skin. Censorship is not the answer. Being tolerant and unoffendable is a better way to grow and be ready for the real world. Also helps to get to the bottom of topics rather than just getting offended and turning off.
But maybe there are some crazies doing things that we don't know. Would be good to know what they are, if you can share!
