Dal khichdi is easier to make as it has fewer ingredients & rasam is a bit complex to get the proportions right.

Depends on the region...

My North Indian friends used to have dal khichdi (it's rice + lentils) whenever they have fever/cold

I prefer to have hot rasam + rice.

(Rasam is a spicy thin soup, that is made with pepper and tamarind. The pepper taste feels so good in the throat)
