This is the “flying car”
I despise these, I can never orient myself and get lost in the direction I’m supposed to go lol
On a technical level it’s undoubtedly better than it used to be, we have more interesting things, it’s just not on the same level as it was when it was novel and felt amazing because of it
It’s so weird to think of the internet as new and very old at the same time
I guess I just want my flash games back
“Universe” in nostr reminds me of diaspora/friendica
It’s useful to have to find new people but still feels a little weird
Beyond the usual genuinely complex discussions of how MUCH speech should be policed is the uncomfortable area of when widely believed misinformation turns out to be true information
We know from the best medical people in their field that we were lied to about COVID and the vaccines and everything
You don’t even have to like Elon but he did perform one necessary public service in exposing that
I think on average sunrises make me happy and sunsets are maybe slightly depressing
Although, when I was a kid, I was a real night owl so presumably looked forward to it
Although what’s amazing about the book is how toxic everyone else is too
(More on Sarah Wynn’s book) you have the internet where the protocols were devised by academic types (yeah some military involvement too) and then here’s Zuckerberg being like yeah censorship on china is cool (anything to let us operate there) and his being accused of theft constantly (winklevoss twins) and his views on radical unprivacy and “that” quote when he was at Harvard (yeah so if you ever need info on people just ask, people just submitted it, they “trust me”, dumb fucks”)
Google (which owns YouTube) needs to be fucking put on notice, there should be serious consequences involved in all this
It is ALSO terrifying people seem to be ok with a lot of this stuff. Either you get the private platform argument or people take the position of like well yeah, tech companies should take down misinformation
