It’s not about ‘trust’ or ‘trustlessness’ - it’s about resolving without violence.

I remember looking at this concept several years back. Just realized I’m kinda building the same thing but permissionless and with payments

An ID doesn’t need to be associated with a person at all.

We figured this out on #nostr long ago.

Very cool. Experimenting with an independent deployment of #nostr #safebox here at https://fastlogin.io.

All done with separate servers deployed, paid with Lightning.

You can give it a whirl with invite code alpha

NO GUARANTEES!!

If you have any issues/questions, please DM directly. Still totally experimental and no guarantee on uptime or response time.

We think we want trust, but what we really want is justice (resolution).

We need trust to function on a day-to-day basis, but that ‘trust’ is actually based on ongoing fairness, but if things really go south, swift and final resolution.

In the olden days (and today) that final resolution was often meted out through violence (incarceration, at a minimum).

Now we have superior means of final resolution (cryptography) where violence is irrelevant.

IRL - Internet Resolution Layer - that’s what I am starting to call it now.

IRL is a layer where you can resolve (settle) transactions, and resolve (look up) data - all with cryptographically verifiable protocols, namely nostr, cashu, lightning and bitcoin.

Ha! The lower row was my childhood. Plus we had all the raw milk we could drunk. Childhood farm below:

Protocols should not be about truth or finality, only about fair resolution.

This has just become my favourite vps provider

Paid some sats, fired up an independent #nostr #safebox server in a matter of minutes.

Hey nostr:nprofile1qythwumn8ghj7um9v4mkzctw9e3k7mf0wfjkccteqqsqddupn4l3cl65wggcyehd009g0pwuatsfudh28f90vewx68vrylq2df5ev I downloaded your #safeboxapp on my Ubuntu setup, but not sure how to use it when it's on terminal 😂

The binaries are a bit out of date. Not sure they still work. Will rebuild.

Almost pretty good. I like the simplicity of graphics, but ChatGPT kinda lost it at the bottom.

Uniform Resolution Layer as written by ChatGPT based on my ideas.

Nostr and the Emergence of the Uniform Resolution Layer

In a world increasingly dependent on trustless systems and verifiable interactions, the need for a definitive mechanism of closure has never been greater. The Uniform Resolution Layer serves this need by acting as the final point of settlement and accountability within any system. It ensures that actions, decisions, or transactions are conclusively finalized, recorded, and enforced. This layer provides a consistent and trustworthy foundation where clarity, closure, and verifiable outcomes are not optional—but built-in. It anchors the integrity of broader architectures, enabling systems to move forward with confidence in the record of what has occurred.

Nostr is emerging as the protocol best suited to power this Uniform Resolution Layer. By leveraging a decentralized, relay-based design, Nostr enables tamper-proof, timestamped records that are cryptographically signed and publicly verifiable. Every action—whether a message, proof, or transaction—is permanently anchored to a unique identity and propagated without reliance on centralized servers. This makes Nostr ideal for final settlement and accountability: once an event is published, it becomes immutable, attributable, and accessible. In this way, Nostr functions as a global, censorship-resistant resolution layer—ensuring that decisions and claims can be transparently resolved, verified, and retained across time, actors, and jurisdictions.

It's been awhile since I've touched the binaries. Hopefully update soon!

India is absolutely killing it in terms of building an inclusive payment infrastructure for 1.2B people. I hope they learn about #nostr
