A COLLECT FOR THE RENEWAL OF LIFE

O God, the King eternal, whose light divides the day from the night and turns the shadow of death into the morning: Drive far from us all wrong desires, incline our hearts to keep your law, and guide our feet into the way of peace; that, having done your will with cheerfulness during the day, we may, when night comes, rejoice to give you thanks; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Gm! He is (still) risen!

The Fifth Sunday of Easter

Almighty God, whom truly to know is everlasting life: Grant us so perfectly to know your Son Jesus Christ to be the way, the truth, and the life, that we may steadfastly follow his steps in the way that leads to eternal glory; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

A COLLECT FOR STRENGTH TO AWAIT CHRIST'S RETURN

O God our King, by the resurrection of your Son Jesus Christ on the first day of the week, you conquered sin, put death to flight, and gave us the hope of everlasting life: Redeem all our days by this victory; forgive our sins, banish our fears, make us bold to praise you and to do your will; and steel us to wait for the consummation of your kingdom on the last great Day; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A COLLECT FOR SABBATH REST

Almighty God, who after the creation of the world rested from all your works and sanctified a day of rest for all your creatures: Grant that we, putting away all earthly anxieties, may be duly prepared for the service of your sanctuary, and that our rest here upon earth may be a preparation for the eternal rest promised to your people in heaven; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Getting lots of rabbits in our yard now. Was reminded of A. A. Milne: https://allpoetry.com/Market-Square

*Market Square*

> I had a penny,

> A bright new penny,

> I took my penny

> To the market square.

> I wanted a rabbit,

> A little brown rabbit,

> And I looked for a rabbit

> 'Most everywhere.

>

> For I went to the stall where they sold sweet lavender

> ("Only a penny for a bunch of lavender!").

> "Have you got a rabbit, 'cos I don't want lavender?"

> But they hadn't got a rabbit, not anywhere there.

>

> I had a penny,

> And I had another penny,

> I took my pennies

> To the market square.

> I did want a rabbit,

> A little baby rabbit,

> And I looked for rabbits

> 'Most everywhere.

>

> And I went to the stall where they sold fresh mackerel

> ("Now then! Tuppence for a fresh-caught mackerel!").

> "Have you got a rabbit, 'cos I don't like mackerel?"

> But they hadn't got a rabbit, not anywhere there.

>

> I found a sixpence,

> A little white sixpence.

> I took it in my hand

> To the market square.

> I was buying my rabbit

> I do like rabbits),

> And I looked for my rabbit

> 'Most everywhere.

>

> So I went to the stall where they sold fine saucepans

> ("Walk up, walk up, sixpence for a saucepan!").

> "Could I have a rabbit, 'cos we've got two saucepans?"

> But they hadn't got a rabbit, not anywhere there.

>

> I had nuffin',

> No, I hadn't got nuffin',

> So I didn't go down

> To the market square;

> But I walked on the common,

> The old-gold common…

> And I saw little rabbits

> 'Most everywhere!

>

> So I'm sorry for the people who sell fine saucepans,

> I'm sorry for the people who sell fresh mackerel,

> I'm sorry for the people who sell sweet lavender,

> 'Cos they haven't got a rabbit, not anywhere there!

A COLLECT FOR PEACE

O God, the author of peace and lover of concord, to know you is eternal life and to serve you is perfect freedom: Defend us, your humble servants, in all assaults of our enemies; that we, surely trusting in your defense, may not fear the power of any adversaries, through the might of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Town that Refused to Die

> Instead of huddling alone in your dank and poorly lit room clicking buttons to consume movies you don't even own, Gympie decided to support pro-social and a traditional community activity. Instead of allowing more and more clubs and entertainment centers to fall away and leave people with nothing, Gympie decided to revive old establishments that were abandoned for silly and vain reasons in the dead-end march for Progress. Instead of treating everything as dopamine to continue living as a hermit-like junkie, Gympie supported community interaction and support of pro-customer practices we all used to cherish not even that long ago.

Inspiring. We don't have to consent to the social rot.

I'm convinced that social + micropayments is the missing key to reviving the short story in the popular imagination.

How would you suggest authors get started? The microblog platforms still feel a bit undercooked, and it doesn't look like long-form notes show up in short-form note clients.

That's not a homestead, that's a lawn. Must take all week to mow. 😆 This guy needs some fruit trees and a flock of sheep.

A COLLECT FOR GUIDANCE

Heavenly Father, in you we live and move and have our being: We humbly pray you so to guide and govern us by your Holy Spirit, that in all the cares and occupations of our life we may not forget you, but may remember that we are ever walking in your sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Any other python devs out there? Do you use the optional typing extensions? We use them in the fiat mines, and so far it's leaving a sour taste in my mouth. Seems like they generate a lot more heat through friction (i.e. hours of lost developer time) than any light for preventing bugs.

Going by memory, it seems like you always leave them in. :) Might be better to default off, except when you need to do the inline response? Just my 2¢. 2 sats? :D

It is interesting though: everyone else here is building Twitter or Facebook, and you're building Usenet. This is the kind of client diversity that Nostr promises: a world of loosely-joined ends. I love it.

Anyone doing nostr development in python? I'm kicking ideas around for simple bots.

I'm just now figuring this out, after several years of homebrewing under the mistaken impression that yeast were bacteria.

You're missing one crucial ingredients: we need cats doing funny things!

Just posted Ep. 2 of The Jumping-off Place, a fun little science fiction adventure, in which our hero, Julin, finds a job:

https://salvageofempire.com/the-jumping-off-place-ep-2/

The story starts with Ep. 1, in which our hero arrives, ignominously, at a godforsaken system:

When this note hits 100 sats, I'll post Ep. 3!

I've re-posted ep. 1 of The Jumping-off Place, a fun little science fiction adventure, for your enjoyment.

#[0] and #[1] and #[2] zapped the first episode over the finish line. I'll be posting Ep. 2 very soon!
